I find the color is richer when you don't do a greyscale first.

Mm. I honestly like to just play with colors so I sonetimes shade with diffrent tones of one color so I can see if I want to use that spesific color

Sometimes I paint in one color then use the saturation tool to see if perhaps there is a better option. It's really helpfu and can unify a piece.

Man, I love all the contours of the horn and the bg is really nice! Is that just a textured bg or did you paint it?

Some of it is texture and some of it is painted. I kind of mixed them together to get a nice effect.
