Just a short animation I made for the Tumblr Lapidot Tuesday prompt this week “Nighttide” (night time). When I read the prompt, it sparked an idea within me.
A fireworks show is taking forever to start, making Peridot rather irritated; Lapis’s first thoughts are that she is mad at her. Communication is the key to this small, age-old relationship dilemma.

*glasses and chair appear*
*sits and gnaws on glasses*
When sounds pass between two difference substances, very little sound reaches the receiving end. You broke at least a rib underwater, so the sound traveled under the water. However, the sound would have a hard time reaching the air....It's scientific, really.

Again, science.
She used the ocean to hold you, and you specifically. Everything requires energy to do stuff, and so it required the ocean's energy to move up here, grab the ship, and then grab you.
Because it released that energy to get up here, it lost its heat energy, therefore becoming even colder than normal.
The fact she held you for so long means you simply went numb. That pain'll show up in a few minutes....if your chest cavity doesn't have frostbite.
If that's the case, you're already dead.

It was crazy, Peridot! The ship gut struck by SPACE LIGHTNING. It got a mind of its own and went berserk! It crashed itself into the ground in an attempt to kill us!
