A character for my hypothetical doujinshi.Geno is actually the name of the doll that ♥♪!? used as a body in the SNES Super Mario RPG game.
Basically, I just gave ♥♪!? a new body. I don't think it's been established whether or not ♥♪!? was a boy or a girl. Whateva. I thought it was interesting.
Outfit is obvious nod to the Raggedy Ann doll.

Spirits have no gender, and nether does his doll body. (It also walks nakes, since it doesn't keep to a taboo to keep something hidden, like we do.)
If people want to know a gender of something genderless, they only want to know it so that they can put it in stereotypical roles for that gender. It doesn't matter since his personality isn't feminine or muscular, right?

The doll that provided the Star Spirit is indisputably a male. The general argument is this; Is the spirit itself a male? No one used personal pronouns to address the spirit until it adopted the name given to the doll, "Geno".
I thought it'd be fun if the gender of the spirit is unspecified. This considered, I can place the very same spirit into a "Raggedy Ann" doll and it wouldn't be so unusual.
