Model Number: PIPER Z350
Designation: Recovery

Features
  • Optical limitations promote docile behavior
  • Allows feeding or rest with minimal infrastructure
  • Quick transition to advanced configurations
  • Lacks advanced behavioral conditioning features
Keeping nominally intelligent animals in line has challenged human owners since the dawn of civilization, and the PIPER Z350 is the latest attempt to ensure the security of such valuable property. The naturally submissive ridea can in most cases be trusted to remain in their masters' care, but exceptions abound and no owner wants to risk the chaos that could result from a loose animal. Techniques used to maintain control over less cooperative mounts have been transferred to the ensemble, and thanks to modern harness designs escapes are now virtually unheard of.

One system brought over from advanced windea harnesses has been the partial hood, referred to as a mask in some parts of the country. However, the version for ridea is significantly larger, tightly fitted to cover everything from the lower collar up to the snout, blinding the animal while in place. This has been proven to induce calm in the wearer, encouraging them to remain passive and to fall asleep when unattended. The animal can be fed and cared for while in this state, but their mobility is limited due to their lack of vision. These partial hoods are compatible with most head restraints, though under normal circumstances a halter is the only addition.

Because the PIPER Z350 shares most of its parts and features with related ensembles, handlers can rapidly add or change restraints and equipment or combine designs for specific applications. One popular configuration includes the hoof boots and snaffle bit from other models in the series, ideal for low-speed draft work. More coercive ensembles may include a spreader bar and advanced head restraint, adding some needed humiliation to the animal's rest period. However, the harness lacks some of the more advanced support structures for immobilizing and controlling ridea, as it is expected to allow some minimal movement while occupying their stable. Most handlers settle for some minimal additional restraints to reinforce the command to stay in place, with the knowledge that the docile animal can be forced into an alternate position if their behavior warrants it.
