Description
Rock is both adorable and horrifying. He has a child-like persona, and his family loves him dearly. Yet that one single moment where he almost killed Wily purposely...It makes you wonder if he's all there or not. I mean, he is just a child. Having to fight against Wily, destroying your fellow machines, suffering from the stress and fear every single day, knowing you and your loving family aren't safe would cause anyone to snap. Being forced through all of that with the mindset of a child is dangerous. It's a wonder he didn't snap sooner.

Ooh I understand! Yes, poor Megaman isn't able to handle his power well at first, but that's what happens when you give such abilities to a child.

True enough. There was no way he could understand what would lie ahead in his journey. That he may even need to kill robots. To sacrifice his peaceful existence so many others could live in peace.

Whether he wants to or not is up for debate. If he's as kindhearted and innocent as some claimed he wouldn't have attempted murder in the first place. He is a machine, after all. Maybe something went wrong...

And yet it's kinda curious to think about Megaman's ''thougths'' after defeating Willy after Megaman 7, who knows if he's still getting haunted by the idea of murdering him at some point?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he were to actually attempt it again. I see Rock as both adorable and a little messed up, since he's been through so much at a young age. His whole "I am more then a robot" or whatever it was could be a hint at something.... Darker.Β
Megaman is the final boss of the classic series confirmed?

I personally think that the ''Im more than a robot'' part doesn't have anything to do with the fact that Megaman is a robot and he's trying to kill Willy, but rather, his feelings about him and in general.
Β We see that Willy is very persistent, no matter how many times he says ''I give up'' he still tries to take over the world (to the point that Rock has to feel a bit angry hearing him over and over) and destroy the blue bomber. Considering the things he has done to him on the way (trying to kill him, force him to destroy his robot brothers, be the primary reason his loved ones get hurt and even kidnap Dr. Light) maybe Megaman has stopped to see Willy as a human and eventually, ends up seeing him as a monster, were not talking about a robot breaking the rules, were talking about a poor child who only needs love and peace getting constantly tormented by a mad man who never learns.
Β If Megaman managed to kill Willy, even though that the consequences would be that people started to fear robots and that his own father would be devastated to see that his creation murdered someone that was once his friend...could you really blame the blue guy? Even for the kindest and forgetful robot boy, he has a limit, phisically and mentally, but hey, that's just a theory (???)

A GAME THEORY-
Well, it really depends if you see murdering a man like Wily as a wrong thing or not. The doctor has done some horrible things to a lot of people, including Rock, but I don't think that decision should be left to a child. Sure, you could say that Rock has been devestated by Wily the most, so he has the right to execute him if he believes it is right, but I would have to disagree with that notion. Again, Rock is just a kid, regardless if he's a hero or a robot. I don't think he should be in charge of whether or not Wily should live.
But then again, just because he shouldn't doesn't mean he won't. He already attempted it once. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried it again. That's why I think Dr. Light should have made a replacement robot, or at least something that could give Rock the life he deserves.

rollflasher In reply to l0NlC [2016-03-14 21:45:07 +0000 UTC]
Well I was not talking about wheter or not should it be up to Rock to kill Willy, instead I was refering to the reasons about why he would want that...and unfortunately, that replacement (aka: X) would take a long time to rise...seriously, poor Megaman, he needs to live like a normal child ;-;
π: 0 β©: 1
l0NlC In reply to rollflasher [2016-03-14 21:54:42 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I understand that. But then you said "can you really blame him?" And frankly, I can lol
But you're right. He just wanted to save everyone, not murder his brothers and see his family constantly in danger. He's just a smol who wants to be happy.

He went through a lot, and he was programmed as a child, so it's not surprising that perhaps someday, he suffered a mind breakdow, it would be dangerous, but it would also show how close he is from being human, and if he killed Willy at some point, he should then be applauded!
π: 0 β©: 1
l0NlC In reply to Romanof12 [2016-03-13 22:16:00 +0000 UTC]
Applauded? I don't think so. Sure, Wily did some terrible things, but think about it. If Megaman were to be praised for murder, don't you think that, with his mind being that of a child, he'd see killing as a good thing? The only option in situations when you can work things out peacefully?
Besides, it shouldn't really be up to Megaman whether Wily lives or dies. That's for the adult humans to decide. Mainly, Dr. Light.
π: 0 β©: 1
Romanof12 In reply to l0NlC [2016-03-13 22:47:38 +0000 UTC]
Well, you have a excellent point, but perhaps, if Dr Light, would convince Megaman that murder was wrong, unless if absolutely necessary, like in Wily's case, for if is allowed to continue to live, more people would get hurt,or even get killed!
Also, Megaman obeys the three laws of robotics, but there is a "zeroth law", witch says,"A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm", that would justify a reason for Megaman to kill Wily!
π: 0 β©: 1
l0NlC In reply to Romanof12 [2016-03-13 23:30:34 +0000 UTC]
You make an excellent point too, but the fact that Megaman is just a kid really makes the whole situation worse. Anyways, Dr. Light doesn't seem like the type to condone murder no matter who it's against. Wily used to be his friend at some point...

Romanof12 In reply to l0NlC [2016-03-13 23:34:54 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, you're right, I guess I just considered the fact that Megaman is a robot and can be reprogrammed, I thought that if he just killed Wily, his problems would disappear!
Now I see, I was wrong!

sgtrama [2016-03-09 19:24:21 +0000 UTC]
This is why the ending to Mega Man 2 is so poignant: After defeating Wily, he just wanders around until he finally finds a nice secluded village, far away from the city, where he can settle down and try to be normal...but it doesn't last. It can't last ;-;

l0NlC In reply to sgtrama [2016-03-10 03:01:15 +0000 UTC]
And by the time Mega Man 7 rolls around, he's gotten so tired of Wily and all the suffering he's caused that he would be willing to end his life. Mighty leap for a ten-year-old boy/robot!

Hexidextrous In reply to l0NlC [2016-03-09 00:51:33 +0000 UTC]
It's an old but awesome movie. You should watch it.
Basically it takes place in a dystopian future where these human-like robots called "Replicants" were created to assist mankind. Till one day, the Replicants didn't want to be human workers anymore, and also realized how the humans limit them with a 4-year expiration lifespan. The robots then revolted, but the humans fought back.
The replicants wanted to be their own race, even if it meant defying the will of their creators and the robotics laws. To stop them, specialized policemen called "Blade Runners" were sent to Retire (the fancy term for kill Replicants), any remaining Replicants at all.
The movie takes the role of a Blade Runner who is sent on a mission to take down a couple detected Replicants. Along the way, he learns more about their sentience, and why they revolted against humans, and how some aren't as bad.
See how it has parallels to Megaman?
