Description

This is the second main character in the project! He is Belinda's investigative partner/guy best friend so you will be seeing him a lot when it comes down to it. He's basically a cinnamon roll, very sweet guy. I wanted to post this earlier but was having trouble with the written part but I finally got that down.

Chris Lafonté

Birthday: July 18th (Cancer)

Height: 5'8”

Occupation: Student (Currently in Grade 12)

Residence: Silver Bridge, USA

Health: Allergies to pollen and cats (not severe), Minor upper body pain from sports (mainly tennis).

Work Experience: Chris's father told him not to get a job during the school year so he could focus on graduating first but Chris was allowed to get a couple minimum wage jobs during the summer of his previous high school years to get an extra bit of cash. He had also volunteered at the local police station. He hopes that he will be accepted as a co-op student at the police station next semester as he is interested in becoming an officer like his father one day.

Personality: Chris is a very soft, protective and caring individual. Has a sense of humour. He is pretty much an introvert and is the most mature and responsible in his friend group, tending to “parent” his friends at times. Helpful and reliable, he'd do anything for them. He tends to worry for those he loves as he deeply cares for them, sometimes being a bit clingy. Chris (his zodiac being Cancer) can also be sensitive and emotional at times, due to this, he often times gets emotionally stressed out, having the need to hermit and recharge (though tries not to show it now-a-days). Chris is justice driven but won't act unless if it affects a person he loves but if this happens he is likely to snap on the person who threatens them which is typically out of character for him. He gets annoyed when people break rules but is still a rather chill guy all in all so he ignores it if he can. He takes pride in things he's good at but will be lowkey about it. He is loyal and an intelligent problem solver, he will go through lengths to resolve an issue. Very studious. Sometimes Chris can be a bit too trusting.

Dislikes: Rule breakers, drugs/alcohol, bullies, leaving his comfort zone, invasion of privacy, being overwhelmed/stress, sudden change, small spaces, confrontation/drama, violence, lemons/sour things, loud places (ex.city sounds), country and pop music, allergies, manipulation, being called a pushover, mess, seeing his friends hurt, tea, false promises, abandoned places.

Family +History: Chris comes from a small family that consists of just him and his parents, though he has a grandmother living up in Canada he keeps in touch with. His parent's names are Richard Lafonté and Violet Owens both of which are Canadian (father being french-Canadian). His parents met when Richard was in higher education learning criminal justice/law enforcement and Violet was working as a server in a small restaurant/café, they met where Violet worked. They seemed to really hit it off and got married a few years later. After married, Richard got a job offer as a police officer in the small town of Silver Bridge down in the US, it paid very well and accepted it, it was thereafter Violet and Richard decided to start a family and had Chris. Though around the time Chris was 4-5 his mother left due to relationship issues leaving Richard to raise Chris on his own, which made Chris have a very close relationship with his father. (Nothing serious between the parents, just “right person, wrong time”, Violet had doubts where she wanted to be in life) Violet tried to keep in contact with Chris but she slowly stopped over the years which kinda hurt Chris in the process.
Chris's base personality was mostly influenced by his parents and was encouraged throughout the years by his father even though Chris was teased for being “too nice” in elementary school.
Chris also had a dog that was a golden retriever around time he turned 6. His dad thought it would be good for him after his mother left. Chris named his dog “Sherlock” as his father got him into Sherlock Holmes around this time but unfortunately the dog died of old age just before Chris got into high school.

Friends:
Due to Chris growing up in Silver Bridge, he had a good handful of classmates he considered friends in elementary school. He wouldn't be shy befriending girls in the class but this led him being teased by the boys and they started to pick on him. Though because of this he started to become a people-pleaser and a push over to feel like he belonged in the class which led to false friends. This continued then he met Belinda Rose, she helped Chris with his issue of being “too trusting” while he helped her open up more, the two balanced each other out. He then met Liana Hunter through Belinda then eventually met Dan Carlington who taught him to stand up for himself. Chris also has friends who are in the tennis club.

Belinda Rose (Best friend): Chris met Belinda when he was 9 (Belinda was 8, they had a split grade class and she was the new kid). Chris and Belinda had clean up duty during one break but it was cut short when she fainted and was brought to the nurse's office. Chris was really worried about her and so he waited for her to get better. It was after this incident that Chris and Belinda became friends. There was one issue in elementary school where Belinda was being picked on because she was friends with Chris who was “Too nice” although Belinda was trying to stand up for herself once Chris saw one of his best friends being bullied he snapped on the bullies. This got in him trouble with the principal and his dad was called in, his dad told him to use that anger to bring justice instead of harm. When the two were older they found that they both had an interest in the murder-mystery genre and Chris had lent her dvd's/books he had. (Platonic relationship)

Extra/Trivia:
-Chris's Dad taught him self defence (around the time he started getting bullied) and took him on camping trips growing up (Meaning he knew basic survival tips, which he can show his friends)

His Dad even taught him how to use a pistol/gun safety and tips/skills he may need to know when in the policing field so that he can have a small head start when he goes to college/university.

-Around the time when he was 13/14 his dad started to have more work since his dad got a promotion and thus wouldn't be able to be home as often as he liked to be. This forced Chris to be more responsible around the house (though on his own accord so he could help his dad)

-Since he likes the cold, he has the tendency to be able to wear shorts in the winter and his friends tend to tease him about this. (He's been lectured about frostbite from others but surprisingly this never happened)

-He got his love of coffee from his mother (although not intentionally). He pretty much got addicted to coffee once he entered high school.

-His love of spicy foods come from his dad, when he was younger his dad thought it be funny to see his reaction and although his dad did get the reaction he wanted, that gave Chris determination to “overcome spicy food”.

-He started becoming interested in Photography around middle-school/high school as he realized that not everything lasts forever and so he wanted to cherish memories.

-His surname is presumably a short form of “Lafontaine” but his father is not entirely certain.

-He has an American accent and will have a slight accent when he is speaking french (He knows a bit but not a lot)
