Yeah, faves are pretty much just another a way of getting likes. You don't hear about people on YouTube or FaceBook raging whenever they get a bunch of likes and not many comments.

Do you know what's worse than people who whine about faving with no comments? People who make stamps and write at the end of description "OMG U GAIS I HAVE A GELLRY TOO STOP FAVING DIS STAMP!!1111!" so I end up searching for a smiliar stamp.

This is so true. People who complain about favs without comments usually don´t get to point of fav. It´s not like some kind of gift you give to an artist, but its main reason is to help you collect artworks you like so you can look at them again or for whatever other reason. And it usually means that you like the artwork so you really don´t need to post a comment if you have nothing else to say.
And also favs help to promote your artwork, it´s something like free feature others give you on their pages. On the other hand, comments don´t help to promote your artwork almost at all. So why should I complain for a free promotion?
Of course I like comments. I love them, especially if the person has something to say, because it helps me to get motivation for my work and I like to share opinions but I wouldn´t want to get as much comments as favs. I prefer less but more meaningful And seriously there is usually something wrong with the picture if it has more comments (I mean actual comments, not replies) than faves.

And I agree with a lot of other people here. If I'm given an ORDER to fave before commenting, it just makes me not want to fave the deviation in the first place.

The only time I get kind of pissed at fav without comment is when I specifically ask for critique/constructive criticism It's like "really? at least tell me WHY you favorited it so I know to keep doing that part of it!"

I'm so agree with this! I know it'll be alot nicer if we got + comment (so you'll know what they like/dislike about your art), but we really shouldnt be so fussy if one prefer to just it. It's already a compliment! There's time when we just simply like it, there's time when we're in such hurry, and of course there's time when we'd like to express our thought more / appreciate more by commenting. I will + comment at my own will (most of the time I will), but if there's those hating statement, it will only make me not faving the art at all

But somehow, this stamp could be ambiguous. Esp, if someone only see the first few frames. They will get the whole inverse message behind it
