I drew the lineart for this almost 2 years ago, but finally had to hurry and finish it yesterday.
Why, you ask?
Well, this is a chibi style portrait of the assistant-store manager at the supermarket I work at. She's the most awesome manager I've ever had, or ever will have, and sadly, she's being transferred to another store on Saturday, Friday being her last day working with us.
She's the person that initially hired me 4 years ago, and she and I have gotten along unusually well since day one. She's one of the most beautiful, kind-hearted people I've ever had the priveledge of knowing, and I will miss her terribly each remaining day I work at our store.
She's almost like a mother to me, (another coworker and I even call her Mom as a joke), and I have nothing but fond memories to remember her by. Luckily, she's not going TOO far, I'll still be able to drive to her new location on occasion and harass her mercilessly.
Anyway, I bought her a goodbye Hallmark card, and will be enclosing the original drawing inside of it for her to hang on her fancy new desk, so she'll always remember me.

She's one of the few people who've pushed me to pursue a career in art. You just know your manager cares when she walks over to you in the breakroom, sees you doodling in your sketchbook, inspects your drawing a moment then says, "Why THE HELL do you still work in this hole-in-the-ground with talent like yours?"

I'll miss you, Mrs. Hubbes! You RAWK!
