Description
Another sketch that I neglected to upload here. Here's my attempt at Estemmenosuchus mirabilis, a weird ol’ therapsid . While these guys are classified as ‘mammal-like reptiles’, and are the ancestors of mammals today, I’ve seen only a couple interpretations with skin, and even then they were pretty shrinkwrapped. Kinda sick of that look, so here’s a fat muzzled lizard hippo to shake things up.(Also on my tumblr !)

Great. I preffer to call Synapsids proto mammals or stem mammals. They had nothing to do with sauropsids other than the basal body plan.

Thanks! And yeah I'm not too well versed in this subject yet, just kinda casually educating myself as I go along. I thought 'synapsid' was a different group from 'sauropsid' anyway? Did I get something wrong in my description? But yeah overall I guess 'proto mammals' would be a more accurate term considering humans and literally every mammal out there are synapsids, lol.

No you didnt make any zoological mistake, since you didnt call them reptiles. Just pointing out that I find more accurate calling them stem mammals. And indeed you captured the mammalian look on it.
