Description
Last year I kinda got into Vampire Diaries, and couldn't help but notice some similarities between it, True Blood, and Twilight. This is kinda old, so not everything quite applies anymore with the latest seasons of TB and TVD. Still, it was fun to make.Related content

Since the author never bothers to explain why, it's the only logical conclusion.

Do I like Twilight as a well-written and compelling piece of literature? Definitely not. Do I enjoy the movies as a way to giggle and snark on sparkly vampires? Oh yes.
Also, the Rifftrax for the Twilight series are amazing.

I agree with the books they are well written out and Stephanie Meyer is a very good writer. But I don't like the films and I know people will say "oh yeah Twilight has vampires just a different way of seeing them"but they're not vampires in my eyes vampires can not be "vegetarian" vampires drink human blood vampires BURN in the sun vampires get burned by :Garlic and Holy water and anything to do with religion. Saying that I know True Blood and The Vampire Diaries don't follow all those rules but Twilight "Cullens" don't follow those rules and neither does Stephen(who has actually started to go along with the human blood now).

Sorry but Eric is to lanky for me and blond. I prefer dark-haired dudes. And if you think Deep, passionate, takes care of you without making you need a icepack (yuk!) boring than I guess Bill is boring. I prefer him. No ego maniac, over-pertective, blond, gray-streaked, or too bulky for me. Me loves the sourthern gentleman. I guess i kind of did what they did. One thing I agree on Sookie is annoying.

I'm not saying I don't like Bill, just noticing the three vampire love interests in these series all have similar traits: they're all mysterious, polite, romantic, and kind of sort of stalked their human loves when they first met them.
I like Bill, but honestly Bill + Sookie never interested me that much.

Oh, BRILLIANT! I swear, there should be a Vampire Checklist trope or something, seeing how homogenous all vampire stories are getting nowadays. Not that I'm not a fan of watching a thousand year old Viking vampire rip people in half, get drunk on fairy blood, and generally be adorable, but I wish they'd do something NEW with the genre for once!

Ugh, and on Vampire diaries they just revealed some of the vamps were also vikings, so unoriginal.
They could at least switch the genders or something, human boy falls in love with 300 year old vamp girl? They sometimes have those subplots, but the main couple's always (virginal) human-girl and vamp boy.

I think it's more of speaking to your audience. If you swapped the gender, who would it appeal to? There's a copious amount of 12-16 year old girls that Twilight speaks to, at least to the effect of put oneself in Miss Mary-Sue's shoes and getting seduced by a hot vampire lad. However young, innocent teenage guys are considered not as desirable in society, and the fangirls couldn't quite fantasize about it in the same way. If a book like that was written, it would be for a primarily male audience, and the female vampire would have to be waaaaaay to over-sexed to make it appeal to a wider audience. And the traditional male-dominance in a typical(that is, movie-esque) relationship would be thrown off as well. It would also be difficult to give their relationship or the characters any sort of substance other than as objects for the inevitable amount of sex and violence that would have to occur to make the book palatable towards men.
In short, if ever a book like that was written, it would be hard-pressed to find an audience outside of men who enjoy the submissive side of a D/S relationship, and would be tricky to market as anything but a dime-store-paperback.
Holy hell, I can't believe I just was THAT analytical about Twilight. Pardon me while I go bury myself in an Anne Rice novel and hope that I can forget that ever happened.

Ha, wow, that was analytical, but valid points none the less. You're very right, you have to know your audience, Stephanie Meyer certainly does!

Either that or she's a blistering moron with a "vampire" "novel". Either way, I'm not sure if I'd be able to give up my pride and write something like that, even for the amount of money she's made off of it.

Twilight needs to just burn in a fire and be stomped to the ground. "Hey, let toss everything we know about vampires out the window!" YES! That will totally work. Not.

Sorry, I just hate that Bill Compton character. Its just so different in the books.
Bill Compton is Sookie's first love but in my opinion not her primary love interest anymore. Eric Northman is Sookie's vampire husband (in the books, but will never happen in the tv series)
Funny comparison though!! Good Job!
