Just tried equipping them to a character, it's default size is tiny. did I do something wrong?

Nope, it's just the way that model comes.
These are the settings I use to make it work:
Position:
X 0
Y -104
Z -1
Rotate:
X 4
Y 0
Z 0
Size 46
