A request I did for my friend since he really enjoys these two.I personally do not XD I find their trope not appealing at all.
Simply my opinion though, if you like them, that's fine!
He asked me to post it so I did.
but the more I thought about it, the more these two are pretty similar. Not only sharing some similar design aspects, but personality wise as well.
If I had to pick one that did it better though, hands down Midna. She had more thought and development put into her character.
Palutena is just a watered down less enjoyable Midna XD
anyway, getting away from that topic before I upset the waifu hunters
The drawing though was just a quick thing To try out a new coloring method. Not sure how it works but will be interested on getting feedback from it.
UAAAGH sorry for the annoying white background. I usually try to avoid posting stuff like that, but couldn't think of something that wasn't all that difficult to add real fast.
Also
I get a new monitor and drawing program next week. (new monitor came today, going to hook it up in a bit!)
So there will probably be massive changes to how I do things for a bit while I learn.
Probably art streams too as I adjust to this new change

I'll admit I agree; Palutena is one of my least favourite characters in pretty much anything, and I find her to be kind of a hypocrite when you think about it, along with a massive jerk. In addition, I couldn't stand regular Midna's tsundere attitude. She had some fun sarcasm though.
You have, however, drawn them beautifully and credit must go to you for your excellent work

but yeah, I didn't like Palutena at all in uprising and found her abusive, hypocritical, and manipulative. Uprising!Palutena has easily become my least favorite game girl.
I know everyone has their own taste in characters and can like different ones and all that, and I try to respect my friends opinions on her, but I don't understand how people can laugh off her cute playful banter and put her on this pedestal free from criticism.
And her fans are so aggressive too. I'm more than happy to let my friends enjoy her (obviously this picture even shows that as I drew it for my friend despite dislike of her), but if I say ANYTHING negative about her I instantly become the target of hate.
Midna is a perfect example of a character that I find unappealing, but is still written well enough that I can find enjoyment through her development. Still don't like her, but it was nice to see her evolve and learn the reasons behind her actions as the game went on. Her sass was balanced out with the rest of the writing and even made sense why she was so bitter and sarcasic when you learned more of her story. Palutena 100% lacked that development.

Heh, it's okay. I get tempted to go off on the same sort of rants whenever people mention Palutena, and I'm always worried I'm going to get torn to shreds by the internet too. I agree with everything you've said; I always wondered why, for example, people ship her with Lucina since it'd be a terrible pairing. Lucina has no sense of humour, so she'd probably respond to the sort of abusive trolling Palutena usually gives Pit by trying to stab her. Poor Pit nearly has to die for Palutena to pay any notice to his well-being, and even then she doesn't let up.
I'm more than happy to converse, and I think you did a great job with the art. I know how important it is to respect others' opinions, even if you disagree (unless said opinion is something really malevolent; disliking Palutena is a legitimate viewpoint), so you'll get some good discussion from me.

Yeah, I always get told to shut up or attacked by her rabid fans.
Even people who I felt so much affection for didn't hesitate to tell me how I was 'wrong' for not liking her.
To the point this person I loved complained so much about me to their friend so they went and called me out in a post saying anyone who doesn't like Palutena is just a stupid bitch.
I didn't even say anything to them that would warrant that kind of reaction. I just said I knew they liked her and the writing Uprising had so I was just going to stay quiet on the topic.
Just...what the heck are wrong with her fans?
It is a fictional character they don't have any connection to no mater how much they pretend that she is their soulmate.
Yes, I understand that they like the character and I respect their opinion on that, but that does not mean I have to instantly change my opinion on her just to stay close to them.
The reason she gets shipped with Lucina is because back when Sakurai posted a daily screenshots for smash brothers 4, one of the screenshots featured Palutena and Lucina laying together. Fans just took the idea and ran since then. It's a stupid reason to ship them really. All it does is show that Palutena was added to smash brothers for pure fanservice, not because they thought she would be a good character, then again, her trailer showed off that point real good what with showing off her tits and ass before her self.
Palutena does nothing but abuse Pit, the one who is putting his life on the line for her war.
It wouldn't be so bad if Pit in return made a mark back at her now and then to show that is their chemistry as friends they can make jabs at each other now and then, and laugh it off as pals being pals, but anytime Pit says something that can vaguely be taken as negative, she gets all butthurt and sad causing him to feel terrible
Pit:*cheerfully*"Who's to say his flight won't run out as well! After all, yours can only last for 5 minutes!" Palutena:*instantly turns sad"Pretty horrendous fuel economy, huh?" Pit:*extremely apologetic*"I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean it like that".
meanwhile, 3 chapters before it Pit:"HE can FLY?!!" Palutena: "seems the only one who can't fly is you." Pit:"ouch....that hurts...." Palutena: "don't sulk Pit, it's undignified!"
What in those exchanges can be taken as equal playful banter between those two?
His inability to fly is also a sensitive topic with him. Pretty much explained as a physical disability he has, and when HADES the main villain of the game asks why he can't fly, and Pit tells him to shut up and mind his own business, Palutena just up and tells everyone without concern. She just tells her ENEMY that her captain is disabled, and cares not for his own feelings towards the issue he clearly wanted to stay private.
She was supposed to be this all intelligent strategy genius of a goddess known for her ways of peace before war. Her answer to everything is just to destroy whatever doesn't side with her. Most of the time in chapters, she doesn't even fully explain to Pit what he is doing in a place until like, halfway through the chapter. How does that sound like a responsible leader?
Her actions cause more harm to the humans than any other god in the game. That can be accredited to the overall poor story telling quality of the writing, but it was still HER actions.
DX sorry, I just get started and I could write so much about the plot holes and contradictions in her character.

Nah, sometimes you gotta blow off steam; and I completely agree. Helps give me a bit more backup for my position. I think even Hades calls her and Viridi out on their pointless actions causing just as much destruction as he does, and she has absolutely no room for argument. If Pit had any spine, I'd be advising him to get out and find another job, really.
It's even more of a bugbear for me, that quite a bit of fanart I've seen effectively shows her using her magic to control and molest people.

Yeah, that is another thing that bothered me about how they decided to include Palutena in Uprising. Pit is her army captain, he has been in so many battles and wars even before the events of the first Kid Icarus. He knows what he's doing, but for the sake of making Palutena feel more useful they really made him incompetent. I admit that I like the cute way he can act at times, but it is possible to write a sweet character who is also tough and strong.
When they take away from Pit's independence and his ability to fight, think, and act on his own, like he used to...it just feels....wrong...to me...
As for fetish art, I mean...people have been doing that stuff right along, it doesn't mater the character.
I tend to just ignore the massive amounts of porn that has came forth from Uprising.

Pit actually looks a hell of a lot more competent in Palutena's Smash trailer, ironically. He puts up a fantastic fight against Link, who's no slouch when it comes to the battlefield. We know he's saved Palutena at least once, you'd think she'd be more grateful.
And I am aware it's a trait of every fandom, NSFW art, but Palutena goes really overboard. It's as if she's kind of possessive and manipulative no matter where she appears.

huh, really? I wasn't a huge fan of twilight princess so I was never really that indepth with how fans feel about the characters there.
I am actually really surprised that the imp form is more popular. She is very lovely to me in her true form. I say I prefer it over imp form anyday.

its like this vegeta just gotten a new baby daughter so what did he do try to name her and was able to treat her like a daughter and care for her and what does fans think that super is garbage to show vegeta is a caring person to his family since he was once a prince, he was tooken from his father as a hostage threatening everyone life if he did anything. he was picked on and nearly killed alot. yeah i dont care he can change, while goku treats his family and wife like friends since at a young age he hit his head so hard that he cant learn anything new and can only fight all the time

Naw, it's the US Palutena that's a watered down, less enjoyable Midna. Β Japanese Palutena's more of a quirky, somewhat clumsy mother compared to the US "Snarky older sister" Palutena

Considering the type of comedy Uprising was, Palutena's personality fit right in. Β If anything, fans should just be grateful Palutena even got a personality since she was nothing but a damsel-in-distress beforehand.

Fans although demand to much from their series, have absolutely every right to offer criticism and be upset if things don't seem right to them. Being told to shut up and be grateful is not only a weak ass point, but is actually just a testament towards how other people just don't care about the franchise and it's integrity as others do.
I know my opinions on Uprising's writing are the minority, but I still have a right to say.
