Guess so
Though where we live in East Anglia there are some brilliant ones..
Sadly am a bit nerdy so know why Feel free to ignore this bit
-don on end of place-name usually means its on a hill from old english word -dun Local to me Brandon
-ton on end is from old english tun meaning farm - Local to me Didlington
-wich on end is from old english wick meaning trading place or port - Local to me Norwich
Or where we live Thetford - ford meaning river crossing river in question Thet! Brilliant
Some are just silly such as Eye (weird place to visit as well as the name!)
or Twatt (from Viking for small parcel of land)
Got to love a grammar school education - may not have done much with it but obviously the history ewas taught well
