I think Princess Mary wears this dress for the first time when her father & Jane Seymour come to visit for the first time as a family.

In both real life & the tv series, there had been a rift between the Princess & King Henry b/c the girl had refused to recognize anyone else besides her mother as Queen, or that she had become an illegit child through her father's divorce. Mary knew who she was & had no interest in giving back back everything she had been endowed with from her royal birth. So for years, she remained living in a household, distant from court, refusing to be called anything but "your highness," even though every1 else knew her as "The Lady Mary."

After Catherine died, Jane somehow convinced the girl to sign the official document her father had given her, simply to end the rift between them. I think Mary finally just wanted her father back, & was willing to give up her right to Succession if it meant she would be forgiven.

This is the outfit she wore when first appearing as a regular character on the show. It's pretty, if sober. She wears it several times throughout the series, w/ various accessories, hairstyles, & cloaks. For this scene, I was wondering what that crazy pile of black lace & beads was on her head, though it doesn't take away from the actress's beauty.

I watched a few scenes w/ Princess Mary in them, & they actually picked a very good actress, even though she doesn't look the part. (She's not ugly enough, lol, & is a brunette). It seems like Mary was 1 of the few actors on "The Tudors" who could really act, rather than the crappy work the others were doing.
