Yay! I drew him again! In a new realistic-ish style. I'm not sure if I got the proportions correct though. DX At least I know how to shade faces better thanks to art class. :URelated content

I took art classes in order to know how to shade the face properly.
As for the intense coloring... I edited the hues a little, and added some effects with overlay.

Yes because to be honest, the message/emotion that the character is trying to bring is all up to the audience. I'm not trying to evoke a certain emotion when drawing since it ends up looking too cliche or forced when I do. (That applies to every other artist as well)
I'm just not the "emotion" type person. I only add a specific emotion to a character as I wish. Other than that, it's all up to you. :U

I give emotions to my characters too. It's just that it's entirely up to the person who's looking at them. People have given me compliments on how I make my characters' expressions so I must be doing something right.
I find it more fun when people decide how the character is thinking rather than me just downright saying it so it works for me.

The proportions look pretty good, except his mouth seems too wide, usually the ends are around the middle of each eye. Unless it's part of his design.
