Edit: I don't know why the hell it isn't showing up u_u If you full-view it, it'll show. ¬_¬LOL, I had the strongest urge to put this in the "Indy Art > Vector" category.
Anyway, after checking out a pic by and whining about how nobody drew Vector, I decided to draw him on the TLA oekaki. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
I'm a little angry about how Archie treated him; they not only made him into a badly done black stereotype, but a self-centered, egotistical one that everyone grew to hate. It's kind of odd that all the "black" characters in the book are hated, like Snoop Dog, for instance. And Sega's new design for him in Sonic Heroes makes it even worse. I will never draw him like that ._.; For now, anyway

Ah well. It's a great picture, of course. It's not just Vector that people don't draw enough, but all of the Chaotix as well.

I don't think Vector's too stereotypical in the comics, but I never liked him in Knuckles Chaotix anyways.

You're right about Knuckles... Most people perceive him as "black," I think--Especially with the rap-filled themes he has in the SA games. However, I think he's treated differently because he's a canon character. Sega is very strict about how Archie handles the canons, and I think Knux's attitude is always pretty reigned-in when it comes to that.

Say WHAT?! o0 Calling a brother an Uncle Tom is a HELL of a lot worse than a "nigga," which is actually probably the only way a white person can address someone who is black in a casual way, stressing the second syllable, of course.

The most spotlight the Chaotix has gotten was in Knuckles' series... Now that it's gone, they're pretty much just in the background. I haven't read the "Post-KnuxDeath" issues, though, that were supposed to spotlight them a little more. I cracked an issue after that in the comic shop and was so disappointed with what I saw that I didn't even bother to buy it.

Yes, I must agree with you about how Archie's done Vec', it is really sad. I hadn't thought about Snoop, but you're totally right! Then again, Knux is generally thought of as being either African or Jamaican, and he, at least, is depicted positively for the most part. But they've completely ruined Vector.. damn dirty racists.. *mutters*

My version of Vec is... lighter? Well, he does use a lot of gangster slang, mainly because he grew up in the streets, in a gang
But he's pretty cool, and kind. He's also light-hearted, and tries to cheer everyone up in tough situations ^^

In all honesty, while I DO put Vector in his Sonic Heroes wear (with some designs put in my own), I DO NOT want him to be stereotypical, too. That was why I decided (in my fanstories)NOT to make Vector Jamaican, instead, he lives in Florida (but he probably has African roots).
The only black people in Archie that isn't stereotypical is Nate Morgan and he's gone now.
Oh, by the way, nice picture, you draw Vector damn good...better then me...
