Description
Not everyone loves misty grey rainy mornings, but for me, they are the most magical thing ever. The soft sound of rain, the glistening of raindrops and the thick haze that both catch every shimmer of light to cast rainbows. The beautiful overcast that softens everything to shadows with only the occasional shaft of brilliant light to illuminate the garden.... Ah..... *sighs*.... Magical. How better to capture that glorious feeling than in a unicorn with a soft fuzzy cloud of a mane and misty shadowy grey hide. Her carousel saddle is completely fashioned out of climbing ivy and soft lavender blossoms, with delicate glass raindrops glistening along strands of beads. A single glass flower on her chest adds her her majesty, and this beauty steps forth. Misty Mornings.
Going up on Ebay tonight. 8:30 PDT www.ebay.com/usr/jinxiea
Bit of a different mane, saw this yarn in the craft store and just had to try it. It's a little prone to unraveling, so I starched the snot out of the tips and it stopped most of that foolishness without being crunch.... but if you wool it around, it'll come loose.
Wool Blend Felt, polyester ribbons, cotton stitching, lots and lots of love and all my own design/patterns/colors what have ya
Always love to hear ideas and suggestions

Have you thought about using fleece for any of your Carousel ponies?

Tried it once or twice, haven't been as happy with the results I'm afraid. Fleece doesn't heal as well as felt does from the size of needles I have to use to draw ribbon through it. Wool/rayon blend felt has the advantage that it's quite soft, and when steamed, the holes heal right up. Also it can be stuffed within an inch of its life to get nice sturdy bodies that don't need wires to stand.
I may try some minky again later this fall, got some nice silver and white... but the pattern's going to need some serious tweeking as the poor dears come out a little pudgy after a good stuffing

That's fine~ Just out of curiosity, have you ever tried the normal sewing-needle technique to embroidery? Since embroidery floss is made up of 6 strands, you break off one strand, thread it through a needle, and that's that. It takes a bit longer than the typical embroidery, but it has quite a nice result, and feels more pleasant to the touch~
This comes from experience, I've noticed that when you use large needles on fleece it does tend to leave an ugly few holes behind. I'm simply giving advice to help solve your problem- if you have a needle threader you can even pull in two or three strands and manage.

When I first started with the carousel ponies I did... if you find her, Don't be Crewel was my first and she worked pretty well with bullion roses, but she took forever 4 weeks to finish one pony... eeeevol! Tis why I went with ribbon based flowers, which leads around to the large needle size to draw the ribbon through.

Oh my GOSH this is gorgeous...the colors are just magical and I love how you planned out the concept. How did you learn to do embroidery like that?

Oh.. *chuckles* how did I learn to do that? Would you believe it just sorta... happened...
Been sewing and working with needles of all kinds since I was a kid. Eventually ya stop bleeding on stuff and the actually works with you to create.... though judging from the snoopy bandaids on my fingers, I'm still waiting for that 'eventually' to arrive

I'm the type thats either sleeping like a baby with the most (so I've been told by my husband) innocent little smile on my face the entire time it rains, or I'm awake and out walking in it listening to my music!
And who couldnt like her, she's absolutely beautiful! I wanna snuggle so much T.T
