Ooo! A new style from you! I love this, it looks like a print or a pop-art style piece from the 1960's! I'm guessing the story doesn't have a happy ending...Great use of shade on the skin tones btw and I love the poppy print on Ashi's kimono- gorgeous!

Or rather, me trying to ape a style! xP One of the reasons I really like Samurai Jack is because it has a 1960s-quality even though it was made in the early 2000s (the last season came out this year, but it still had the 60s-ish feel); reminds me of watching Hanna-Barbera stuff on the Oldies cartoon channel when I was a kid.
I had a feeling that what happened would be the ending (considering the show uses time travel), so it wasn't as big of a shock as it was for my sister! It was still a bummer ending though.

Nice. I wasn't into the show, but I skip-watched a fair amount of the last season, and that was one downer ending. Good job making a happy version. (You're not the only one who has done this either since I did a fanfic that saved Fives after what happened in TCW.)

Thanks! I remembered hearing about the show when I was younger, but that was when I was in my full-blown Dog Phase, so the only things I watched were 'Scooby Doo' and other dog-related cartoons. When I saw the teaser for the fifth season this spring it immediately piqued my interest (probably because they were the same people who worked on the "Clone Wars" 2003 shorts and I LOVE those), so I decided to go back and binge the series from the beginning to get some context. It was a lot different from other cartoons I watched since there's not a whole ton of dialogue most of the time, but I liked the style, character designs, and storytelling. Season Five was probably my favorite because it was more serialized and mature (the latter being the main topic I'm considering for my senior Cinematic Arts paper in regards to animated films/shows 
I'm been re-watching TCW and I've been putting off that episode for WEEKS because it distressed me so much the first time around.

I tend to like darker cartoons. They normally have the darkness, but not the disgusting adult stuff, so they're just right for me.
Oh, yes, I know the feeling. It's one of only two or three times I've actually come close to being choked up over a TV show. I also don't write non-cannon fanfics, but I did sort of for this one because I wanted to make it better. (Of course, since it was written years ago, it's REALLY non-cannon now.)

With every breath and heartbeat, pain throbbed in his chest. Fives opened his eyes. The room, wherever it was, had little light. He lay on some sort of bunk, though it had no decent padding.
“Hey, Fives.” A clone, half his face burned by some accident, stood over Fives. “It’s me, Echo.”
Fives squinted. “I thought Hell would be hotter.” I was a bad soldier.
Echo chuckled. “You’re not dead.”
Fives moved his hand to his chest. His fingers touched a bandage. “How?”
“From what I know, they you carbon frozen right away so your brain would be in good shape for dissection. For some reason, they just threw you out, carbonite and all.” Echo shrugged. “Kix tracked you down and kept frozen until he found a heart and when he did,
