Description Our first assignment for Maya class is or was to create a robot using polys and it just killed me If i could use nurbs OH the armor I could give this lil guy, which I may do for myself ^_^

This might later go into scraps as he is not textured nor does he have proper lighting. (The teacher said "NO!")

Software: Maya
Render: Maya Hardware (for mental ray looked like crap...why!?)

*edit*
He is constructed of spheres, one tube (neck) and cones for the feet which I hate the feet! (you should see my original robot ew)

Edit II* [link] here is the new robot

well, unfortunately I had the class once before. I am just thankful that I am remembering stuff. With my migraines I rarely remember anything. Hopefully the headaches don't get in the way this time.

Nice work so far! Mental ray has to be tweaked here and there to work properly. Otherwise, you can light your model with any other lighting technique (e.g., ambient energy). For simple and fast lighting, use the 3-lights basic technique (main, fill, and rim lights). Also, the rendered model can be shown along with any hand-drawn starting sketch you may have, showing the components you mention at the end of the written description.

he said no lighting and I am assuming that is why it doesn't render out well. No lighting no materials, my other model turned out really nice under the mental ray I had three pt. lighting. OH I have added on to this guy and put in more details you should see him now!

and thank you

Then, it would be better to render it wireframe, the VFS way, with hidden faces blocked. I look forward to see your enhanced model!

OH I am a 3D modeler. I just lost ALL my models All I have are the renders that I posted on here "allegator queen" and the table with dishes on it... I used 3DS Max for that one. This one I used Maya in which is not my first time modeling in Maya but this is in fact the first project of the new quarter in this class WOOT. it was fun!
