Doing an upload test because everything as of late looks weird upon upload or setting as background. I'm getting a lot of visual/digital artifacting and while people have tried giving me advice and fixes they are not working. Artifacting happens during compression of images whether online or on the computer background. Even if it starts as a png the site or the os will place a jpeg copy for optimization and/or for faster loading. In an operating system its to reduce the resources being used for the desktop bg.
Idk if its because of my canvas size choices as of lately but I'm having issues. For me the newest things I've been trying is saving in png instead of jpeg and using gimp 2.10 instead of 2.8. When I have been making my canvases I have been trying to create them in 2k textures or resolutions. Always 300dpi/ppi but I have also scaled resolution down for internet viewing at 72. I've tried everything... :/
This here is exactly how I feel... forum.deviantart.com/communityβ¦

It might not be so bad if your end goal is to send the artwork to someone. So if your goal is to display your artwork on Deviantart and have someone buy it then you could always wetransfer them the artwork and bypass Deviantart. Only use this for display purposes and wetransfer the Hires image to the person you sending it to.

Makes sense but I don't think I'm doing that? At least I'm not there yet.Β

I know you've tried a lot, so apologies if you've heard this before, but have you tried giving a single pixel some transparency? Because .jpgs can't handle any transparencies, it forces dA to upload it as a .png

Yeah. :/ Nothing is working. I've tried both jpeg and png formats. I'm wondering if its the program update? It looks fine in the program. Could it be the canvas size? You can really see it on the banners around the coats.

Ah, sorry bout that. I'm not sure what the issue would be. I've always solved the problem by adding a transparent pixel in the very corner of my drawings and uploading as a full resolution png. I also make my own watermark instead of using dA's watermark, so that might be doing it? Maybe making the watermark in your program instead of through dA would help, but I'm not sure. I wish you the best of luck though!

No luck so far. I would ask if its the program but I looked at an old image I did in psd back in the day when I had the program, the image is jpeg and its still artifacting not as badly though.
