I have mixed feelings about this whole thing. I am staying because I love my community. And starting new somewhere else can be hard. Especially so late in the game on some of these older platforms... With that said if you are like me mourning the loss of old site DA this can be a great way to hall of fame the site in its ultimate perfection. A memory locked in a screen capture.
If you want to save your profile intro landing page forever frozen in memory, try screen-capturing the whole page not using the screenshot button but this tool here, you can always uninstall it when done: chrome.google.com/webstore/det… If you want to you can even upload it to way back machine on archive.org/.
Edit: Some stuff was brought up to me by another deviant in the forums I thought I'd pass it along. It would seem there are issues. So when you save it this way, above ^ its not going to show up correctly on Archive.org. You can still do it this way but you will only have the viewable keepsake on your computer the way it was preserved.
"anyway for online is better webrecorder.io
There are more services, www.freezepage.com/, megalodon.jp/, perma.cc/ (it allows only 10 saves per account but is by far the most reliable). or archive.st/, but they are not as useful as archive.org and archive.is"
But I am not sure of these services as I have no experience with them. It looks like if you upload to the wayback machine it still shows core but when I downloaded from archive.org uploaded as a pdf, it came back downloaded the same as I uploaded it as a pdf and the same image below. So Your safe to use it and to upload it here in a scrap as a keepsake or keep it on you pc.
It's not perfect, by any means but its something. For some reason its jumbling my newest deviations and showing past ones instead of current ones.
Good luck moving into Eclipse!
Rest in peace my friend. T.T
Edit: Please be sure to check out the comments section for more helpful tips from other amazing deviants! I have high-lighted anything that could be considered helpful tools for you to capture your keepsake! Have fun and don't forget to show appreciation as support by checking out peoples profiles, art, etc..

Also, as for preserving to oneself, is the main thing here, Vivaldi browser has also a "screenshot" save feature, as well as many add-ons. What I have commented is only for preservation online, but sometimes a "full screenshot" is way better.

If you are on an iPhone or iPad, you can take a full-page screenshot by following these steps:
- take a normal screen capture by pressing the power and home buttons at the same time
- when the preview image of the screen capture pops up in the bottom corner of the screen, tap it
- there should be two options somewhere on the screen that say “Screen” or “Full page” (I’m on a regular iPad, and it’s at the top of the screen for me; I don’t know if it’s different for others); select “Full page”
- this will create an as-you-see-it PDF of the full page.
- use an app to convert the PDF into an image, and voila.

No you misunderstand this if for screenshotting a keepsake before the switch happens. Memory scrap booking sort of things for those that are having a hard transition. I'm just providing a way for people to have something to reflect on.

ah, you mean that extension. it uploads then the result or you save to your computer?
anyway for online is better webrecorder.io
In archive.org it looks like this: web.archive.org/web/2020032408… so, dark and not visible.
And in archive.is: archive.today/2020.04.24-04123…
There are more services, freezepage , megalodon.jp , perma.cc (it allows only 10 saves per account but is by far the most reliable). or archive.st , but they are not as useful as archive.org and archive.is
anyway, greeting, I am glad more people knows about archive.org

Okay I logged out of my account to check what my journal looked like. So I can still see the old site image upload in my document. Even if its just good as a snapshot keepsake and on the personal computer or in a scraps on here its still not a bad get. With the chrome extension, yes, I just downloaded it in both a pdf and image format so this one I uploaded was an image format. It seems to work there, and the pdf I uploaded to archive.org only works when you download it to look at it. I'll have to mess with a few things. Sorry for so many messages. I had to check a few things and get myself centered more in troubleshooting as I am a computer noob. lol
I got lucky and I guess the wayback machine did a capture in 2019. XD lol I found some old embarrassing work and an embarrassing journal. XD I guess they've crawled me twice without knowing. web.archive.org/web/2019063014… I don't like the fact that some of my info is floating around though, I decided to take my name off of things more. XD

there is a way to check pdfs online from archive.org but maybe you need a browser that supports it: jakeukalane.github.io/archivin…
Anyway, just wanted to comment to let you know more options, what you use is nice to do archiving of sites after you have log on. There was a service that allowed to do that in the past but it was put down for security concerns. Yes, archive crawlers are very active. I do manual archiving a lot, btw. If you use a desktop browser this might help:
Yes, that is a problem for archiving.
don't worry for the amount of messages, is not everyday I found people interested in archiving

Greetings btw. :3 I have used the site for a while but I didn't make an account until recently though. :d I have noticed some things I used to read are gone now though. I was looking at some old archaic texts won't mention names for reasons. But yeah, they aren't there anymore.

Web is constantly in a state of decaying and building itself, so when I found something interesting I archive it. Check the link I sent you in the other message and tell me if you have any doubt.
Yes, concerns about privacy is one of the worries about archiving...

Hmmm this is really good info I will pass it on. Although I am having an issue with the more services links you sent in the last part they are just showing my eclipse webpage for some reason?

yes, the eclipse webpage is the "standard" now. Outside of login in dA there is no "old dA" anymore. :/
btw, if you have bookmarks of deviantart and they give you a 404 error there is a couple of things for archive.org. First, the URLs of deviantart have changed. I will put my main account as an example as I archived my page several times.
If you look for the nowadays URL, the first page saved seems to date from 2018, which is too recent: web.archive.org/web/2018073119…
but with the change of order I can search in 2011: web.archive.org/web/2011081819… (notice there is not s in http, that is another thing)
If you have an individual deviation you need to look for the id. The id is this (gallery)/Los-Grandes-Maestros-Hryss-358892535. With that number you can even obtain the fav.me link because it is sequential.
Imagine you have this: (deviantart)crashofbillionlives/art/Frost-s-poker-face-358892538. You wouldn't know the fav.me because is 404. But if you change the ID number to a number of positions before or after (Trellis , 358892539, for example), you will see its fav.me link: d5xob97. So, the fav.me link of the 404 deviation would be d5xob96. And you can check if any of the urls (fav.me/d5xob96 , www.deviantart.com/view/358892… , www.deviantart.com/deviation/3… ) exists. Most probably, no. But I have find things this way.
Also, if the remove is recent, cache of google can help
greetings!!

you mean Internet Archive? well, those are different services, I am more versed in the Wayback Machine service. Internet Archive works as library too and place to download public domain books. I haven't used the library service.
As for obtaining books, I usually go to some epub websites that I have confidence on them. In Spanish there is epublibre but I don't know of english books, maybe b-ok.org/ is a good option? Anyway, if you try those sites, mind to have your antivirus in order. I am not used to that, as I use linux, but in the computer of my parents I have to be very careful...
Another site for free books is libgen.is Along with sci-hub.tw (that allows you to read DOI scientific papers) those two sites allowed me to finish my career. Also, right now there are many editorials giving their books because of the lockdown (at least here in Spain).
About encrypted pdfs I have no much idea about it but I remember that my program in Linux could open encrypted pdfs than adobe or sumatrapdf can't. It is called Evince and it has a windows version. I found the portableapps version: portableapps.com/apps/office/e… so no install is required, you download, unpack to a folder (in your desktop for example), and you open the program. If you want to remove completly the program you just remove the folder where you put.
About opening the pdf. Have you tried to open the pdf from the program instead of trying to open the program from the file? Is a simple thing but I have encountered several times with problems that got solved that way. Also a portable app may work when others didn't (as you said there is some kind of software preventing things).
Hope any of all I said was useful for you and sorry for the long reply. If you have any doubt, tell me

oh, just read again the thread and what I meant here: www.deviantart.com/comments/1/…
was totally another thing, sorry that I got confused and reply a different thing. I meant there is a way to save pdfs in wayback machine. With the URL. For example: www.neubert.net/PseNaturforsch… (the content doesn't matter is just a small pdf), I archived and it can be seen here: web.archive.org/web/2008070522…
What I meant with that comment is that there are browsers that has built-in PDF reading capabilities (so the link above loads directly on the browser, and don't prompt a download). All of that depends of your precise browser as in Firefox or Chrome there are different options for this.
I hope this clarify my reference to support of "check pdfs online from archive.org".
And if the previous comment is useful, then great too, maybe you could use portableapps to avoid the problems you have now until you clean your computer
Also, I hope my messages are not very confusing, I am very sleepy and sometimes when I write in English I say nonsense things...
greetings!

Oh awesome yes, this is helpful too, I will look into this as well. Thank you so much. And not a problem. I'm dying tired over here too its only 9:30 but you know your getting old when you look at the clock at 4pm and you want to crash. Also kids tend to be exhausting at times. I'm probably going to crash out myself.
