very touching. I like it, and have a feeling that it has something to do with theatre, but am probably wrong. 
You make the "alone" even more aloneish by describing he bodiless hands, strangers, etc.

yep. rehearsal. being so distanced from everyone else. i don't know them there... and yet, in the darkness, i know them best. i know them with no inhibitions i know them with no shame. in the light everything changes when reality kicks in.
