The Island of Myths

The Island of Myths is magically guarded by the last magicks of the ancient Gods. On the island are all the creatures created by the Gods, to save them from the blades of men. Minotaurs, cyclopses, and any other monsters of the ancient world are on the island. The Goddesses insisted that the Gods included the Amazons. After much arguing, the Gods agreed, but the Amazons would have to face the dangers of being on a large island with the monsters.

Over the decades and centuries, the Amazons built their society with their Queen. Already dedicated to peace through strength and beauty, the Amazons learned to fight the monsters that would attack them. Amazons occasionally would fall to the beasts, or a monster would try and rampage through the Amazon village.

To keep their numbers up, the Amazons would sneak off the Island of Myth to mate. Some would come back pregnant to give birth to an Amazon baby; some would never return for whatever reason.

When an Amazon reached a certain age, they were allowed to pick a duty. Some became priestesses and healers, some became artisans, some hunters, others were close to the land. All Amazons were trained warriors, but those that became professional warriors stood watch at the walls and gates, ready to defend the village from the depredation of monsters.

A few became scouts. These are the elite, solo warriors that venture deep into the island, away from the seaside village. They keep an eye out for marauding beasts and either stop them or warn of their coming. More than once, beasts had joined forces to raid the Amazon village; few things on the island attracted the beasts more than a beautiful Amazon. The scouts are the eyes and ears of the Amazons, the front line of protection.

A hundred years ago, this young Amazon went on her first solo scouting trek. This troll was her first kill....
