I know, ominous title for a fairly peaceful image
Hooray! I'm getting better at drawing guys!
This dude has been in the making for a few weeks, but the last couple of days have been really good for him X3 There's a lot of details and a lot of hours in this. With any luck I'll be able to make an appropriately cool background for him too ^_^

Nope. No name, no background, no reason for being in that pose. I just drew him because his face and arms (which are now in a different position than they were at conception...) were stuck in my head

That's a good enough reason for me. Many of my own art has come about because I liked a particular body part, not because I had a character in mind.

That one arm--his right, our left--looks awfully short. It looks like you were trying to have his arm held out behind him, because foreshortening would call for his arm to be shorter. Am I right?

Oh, you were kidding. Trust me, I've been flamed for culling flaws before.
What gave it away was the fact that the horizontal lines (the ones that run perpendicular to his arm) on the bracer aren't curved enough to match the foreshortening. If they were curved downwards more, along with the hand being drawn slightly smaller, it would be perfectly fine. I know--I tried it.

The key, I think (and this is a trend that started with my 'Untitled WIP' [link] and will hopefully be a common, continuing element to my characters) is to add some great stuff... like clothes, then put a design on the clothes, then erase half of what you've already done and draw some more stuff over it, then lose the picture for about three weeks, then start working on it again, and so on and so forth until you have a really great picture!!
In the end, you lost an entire day of your life just drawing a picture, but if it looks that cool... wasn't it worth it?!
