No, not THAT kind of icon
This one's of the orthodox religious variety.My mom's been on an icon kick lately, did one of Jesus in colored pencil (took her an age and a half. This one took me a few hours. She hates me now ^_~). She actually printed this one out for herself, I took a fancy to the bright colors, and thought I'd give the style a shot. Reference was used, but . . . I don't know who the artist is. Ooh. I really enjoy the style of the feathers, and the way the overall style of the picture is. Great pose and shading style... I like how you did the clothing folds, and made them smooth without adding more than one layer of darkness. (If that makes any sense at all)

Very good combination of midevil artistic styles with modern ones, creating a somewhat believable angel picture, as though it was part of an old illuminated manuscript. The color combination is great, too.

How did you get your bg color to come out so smooth and clear? Seems like whenever I use my Prismacolor markers, the color is very layered and not like yours. =/

For that one . . . the background was done on the computer, with a little 'noise' added for texture.

Hah, no wonder. I have wanted to ask that question for some time now, though, because you seem to be able to make your colors so clear even when I KNOW it's marker. Do you just layer it a lot on the paper to even it out?

Well, what kind of marker are you using? Cheapie ones do streak a lot. Prismas and Copics just blend really nicely.
