i think clear water with a black bottomed vessel wuld have looked excellent
the apple wuld stand out as an intrusion into the water... also the black bottom and the white highlights in the water drops wuld contrast quite well

this one is good, but a bit too dark... i am sure ull get it right in a few more tries.
also, may i suggest using a smaller aperture... it will affect ur exposure time but try going as low as possible.. then the DOF wont be noticable.
