Illustration to go with the snippet I wrote: Blood & Milk

Pretty happy to be illustrating scenes from my stories, and I pushed myself to work in perspective rather than flatly like I usually default to; it was challenging but so worth it!

I was also looking up Fight Club screens while thinking of ways to color this, so I tried to go for a very green palette--green's not a strong point of mine for sure, so I'm pretty happy with how that turned out, too! Still being pretty quick/impatient with my digital stuff, but, ahwell...

Anyway, Jean (Sariel) and Salim, my cannibal babies from my story Iris .

Iris - Blood and MilkThe fight rings are her world. The only other memories she has--foggy ones, of the orphanage and the streets--aren't of anything better, and not particularly worth remembering. Down here, her life has consisted of just several rooms in a single building, a dull monotony that she's never really tried to break, having nowhere else to go as a full-blooded vampire with no blood partner, no job or skills or money or anything else; just her two arms and two legs, and two rows of teeth, but apparently that's enough.
So all she knows is this: stale sweat, chalk and dust, asphalt and corroded steel. The taste of blood always in her mouth, the lights either too dim or blinding her on the floor of the ring, and always the roaring, whether it's of the crowd ringed around above her or the blood rushing through her head or the roar of the fire or the snapping of bone or the slam of the lockers or the buzz of the lights but whatever it is, it's never silent and yet she's alwa
