Description
Because, uh, I really can't come up with a better title for this... : D;;A picture I whipped up recently--been drawing a lot of Iris-related things, though most of them just loose sketches for now. I've been slowly warming up to traditional inking again, thanks in part to a nifty Hybrid Technica pen I picked up, and I'm pretty darn pleased with the look of this, so-! I really like the lineart on its own, too (probably for all the work I put into those hands, hahahah)! I kept the digital editing kind of simple though, 'cuz I... dislike... digital stuff/flats... : D;;
Here's a Seth, the main character from my story Iris , casting some Sigology.
Sigology is a form of energy manipulation--it pulls on latent energy mostly from the surrounding environment, which means that sealed Demis (like Seth) and humans can use it, but it's channeled through the user's body and the commands the caster gives, so you have to really understand the craft to control it, or the backlash of energy can really damage one's body.
Circles are usually used to seal or gather energy, and the proper slash marks across circles release/channel that energy.
Pen and Photoshop CS5.
More info on Iris: IrisThis is an attempt to outline the world, concepts, and characters behind my story, Iris.
(If anyone could tell me what genre this is, please tell me. I'm guessing "urban fantasy" right now but I've really just no clue.)
In general, I am looking for any and all sorts of feedback on this: shoot questions at me, point out peculiarities or loopholes, ask me about potential consequences, or just tell me what you think of it all. I'd love to hear what you have to say; help me build my world! : )

SUMMARY
(trimming of this would also be much-appreciated.)
In a near-future world devastated by flood and drought, humans seek to survive in the remnants of once-great cities now thick with dust and salt--and they don't struggle alone. Creatures out of myths and legends now walk alongside them: mermaids, centaurs, harpies and nagas; vampi

This is just amazing. As you do your art study you can see it start to affect your work. The amount of detail and life in the characters just gets to astonishing levels. There are professional artists who can't draw as well as this.

A-Ahhhhh, thanks so much man, that means a lot to me. ;-;
I've been looking back over my own work as well, over this last year or so, and it's been close to a year (last august/september) since I decided to pursue art seriously as a career, and just seeing my own improvement when I really put my mind to it... has really been the best feeling ever, jeez.
Thank you, man. ;-;

oh god, Lai, this is BEAUTIFUL. The lines are so clean and I want to know more about sigilology like NOW.
Let me know if you want more worldbuilding musing anytime. I'm stuck on my own stuff, so I'd like to help others out.

Ahhhhhhh thank you so much, hahahah! Sadly I'm not sure if there's much more to describe beyond what's been said hahahah! I do hope to be able to go into Sigology a bit more in a short comic I wanna do soon... but, yeah!
And man, I'm always up for questions, anytime!
