Just my once-a-year or so attempt to digitally paint, lmao;;;Anyway, just a random portrait of my favorite lil murderer Sariel hehe...
Oh, and since I don't remember if I talked about this before or not, but a story update for Iris:
Vampires are characterized by their yellow sclerae, which makes them easily identifiable and unfortunately leads to a lot of discrimination against their kind.
(It used to be pale yellow eye color but yellow sclera makes so much more sense/works so much better for the story, so hey, just wanted to clarify that!!)
Sariel is a hybrid with demonic blood/organs introduced into her, hence why she has the horns and red eye. (This comic: Mother covers how she got her red eye.)

Ooooh, aside from this being a beautiful paiting, you really intrigued my curiosity here, so I gotta know: the yellow sclera of vampires, is that related to their diet consisting of blood? Since the breakdown of hemoglobin in the blood cells creates bilirubin, a yellow pigment, which in excess can make the screala go yellow???
Anyhow, I love the idea of a different color of sclera characterizing vampires!

Yes, that definitely played into my decision to do that, though I don't know how accurate it'll always be to that (I was thinking about when vamps' eyes would go more/less yellow in the sclera) but for sure, that concept was a big part of it-! X3 So happy to see someone spot the underlying science hehehe! <3

Knowing lighting is a HUGE advantage for sure. Though I don't think your pictures would need any "saving" I like all the other aspects too.
I myself feel that my pictures lack on that departure greatly and they often feel flat or boring. But now I'm on a quest to change that. ^^

ooof I love your digital painting! That extreme light with that red line between the highlight and shadow is just lovely!! For someone who practices with digital painting only once a year you sure have a good grasp of it!

and the red line art looks super snazzy, it seems like it really brings out the lighting.
I think the yellow sclera is a fitting choice for vampires, considering yellow a sclera is also a sign of disease. stigma on top of stigma

yeaaaaaahhhhhhh I was like, "oh this makes so much more sense from a biological standpoint" and also it's doubly effective since it's a lot harder to hide than pupil color so-!!! I'm pretty happy with this development hahaha

The last thing you see before there's a fist-sized hole in your torso, at least it was peak aesthetic.
Lighting is pretty good, though a part of me wants to be 'hmmm-y' about Sariel's forehead being super lit. If it were that bright, she might have another weak patch of light hitting her cheekbone ridge. That or the top half of her hair should be entirely in highlight tone. IDK, I'm such a shameless abuser of god-lighting, so I think about these things a lot. XD;;;
