Description The Well of Souls*

From the darkness I emerge
Witness to creation
And its heralds celebrating
The Life at hand

2011

Metallic Gel Pen on Illustration Board

*Based on a dream I had around 20 years ago

Here are some poems friends wrote inspiredby the piece:

P39 - The Well

"He lifts another bucket
from his well of souls,
white hands working
as the formless figures
rise once more.

No sweat falls
from his ageless brow,
no breath draws
through his open mouth,
as he pulls
pulls the lives closer
a Master of destiny."

The Temple

Taking one step into the temple and her eyes travelled up and up. The pillars were topped with the same statue of the Divine, arms open wide.

Her breath stopped. Her heart thundered in her ears, deafening any sounds from the temple.

It was the most beautiful place she had ever seen. The light reflected in through a high window, making everything sparkle.

She gasped suddenly, her body taking over her lungs. The magic flowed through every breath she took. And planted itself in her heart. To be a part of her very existence forever-more.

I appreciate your art tremendously. It's on the wavelength of the awakening happening on the west coast California visionary art scene.

I am elated on how my art resonates to you. I do wish I could see how the Californian Visionary Art scene has grown since I last visited

Good day my friend,

My apologies for such a late response. I do believe that we both tapped into a universal truth, in a plane beyond the material view. I saw this in a dream around 1993, and it took me decades to finally understand and illustrate it properly

I am a student of sacred geometry and sigils, in fact I do teach mandala making and meditation workshops based of the Buddhist process

WinsomeLosesome In reply to Lakandiwa [2012-06-04 03:32:50 +0000 UTC]

After looking through more works, I noted quite a few different geometries and symbols. Quite wonderful Nothing seems forced about their use either; sometimes it seems to me that symbols/sigals can seem extraneous, but they are obviously integral to your work and the process of your working. I'm curious what it is like to teach someone how to make a mandala.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lakandiwa In reply to WinsomeLosesome [2012-06-05 19:55:09 +0000 UTC]

I teach the basic format of the Buddhist mandala process, and in that process the student in turn decides what at the best symbols to represent their relationship with themselves and the universe . . . in in that process of creating the student does discover so much more which is theirs alone to experience

I have had pranic healers, yoga teachers from India and Nepal, and even a woman who went to India three times in search of an answer . . . and all of them say they have discovered these answers while doing the mandala

The interesting story was the woman who went to India, because she was a classmate from college whom I haven't seen in more than 20 years . . . and our reunion was an illumination for her, which she couldn't find in a long time . . .

As for myself, the joy of the healing is what I blesses me . . . I have even had some people commission personal mandalas of healing who do claim that the mandala has helped them bridge their inner turmoils
