Description
Here is the final fret picture before I give the whole project a rest. This was as much an experiment with lighting, ISO and white balance, as it was an attempt to push my camera to its limit. The results aren't too shabby.

delightful, i think the lighting gives the whole thing life and texture, making the instrument look elegant and classic. seen from a small view, looks a little like a traditional chinese orchestra instrument.

The geometry of this shot is nice. One thought that came to me - more whimsical than critical - was that flipping this image around so that the thicker part of the neck would be on the right might make the lack of focus less noticeable. (At least, it would for me). Also, have you tried using a very light opacity sharpen brush on the far ends of the strings? Finally, I like the warm dark brown you used in this image. It is very effective in supporting the geometric and musical feel you have here.
