Description This was supposed to be a different set of falls entirely.

The Blackwater Canyon has who knows how many different falls, besides its namesake Blackwater Falls. On this particular day, we were trying to reach two waterfalls on Falls Run. However, after some misread guidebook directions, a twisted ankle, busted up knee, and a punctured shin, this is where we ended up. Looking at the map afterward, this clearly was NOT Falls Run, but Engine Run, about 1/2 mile away.

By the way, to give you an idea of how remote and ridiculous a hike this was, Engine Run isn't even MENTIONED in the guidebook. Probably for a good reason.

And yes, we did eventually find Falls Run. And that is another story entirely.

your trip sounds like a normal trip out in washington for me, minus the twisted ankle, mine are made of rubber i think thank you for your efforts very worthwhile!

Welcome! it definitely takes a toll on the body, but i seem to have a high tolerance for pain. kinda glad its been raining alot here so i can somewhat heal, but i am off to hike today! just couple hundred feet off the path to the fall though rubber ankles are from 16 years of skateboarding, has helped a lot with running around in the forests

Well, then I'm just out of luck. No skateboarding for me...I'm too clumsy! You, Mike, and Doug probably all have pretty tough ankles! Good luck on your hike/shoot today. Can't wait to see the results!

never to late too start!! thanks for the wishes on the hike today, just got back and it was fantabulous and the waterfall, superduperfantabulous!! haven't been that excited coming up to a waterfall for a little while now, felt like a kid in a candy store or whatever they enjoy now! i know i got some great shots. gotta work now though coming soon..

Awesome photo! I especially like the green glow in the background. I wonder if a slight gaussian blur would make it a little more ethereal... but then again, I've never used guassian blur so don't listen to me

I've never used a Guassian blur either! Perhaps that's something I will try, because I know exactly what you're trying to say. I do think it would make it more ethereal, more mystical looking. Thanks for the suggestion! Much appreciated.
