Design Imitation:

I’m going to dive in and get straight to the point. This is a note for anyone who think's this is okay.
If you need something saying “please don’t tell me my designs remind you of other people’s characters”, that means your designs can be immediately identified and associated with another person’s. There has never once been a point in time where someone’s said that about a completely original design. Do keep in mind this only counts if your design came after the original design, and that’s pathetic if that’s the case. Instead of attempting to re-design something you didn’t originally create and play it off as purely a coincidence, where it’s obvious that imitation is prominent, try your own ideas.
Going back to the “don’t tell me my designs look like other designs”, if you have something like that anywhere, it probably means that you have more than one design which resembles that of another person’s. And I get it, you want to have a cool high quality looking design just like that famous/popular person’s because you like that design. That’s fine, to admire it. What’s not fine, is to take that design and pretty much make a bootleg version.
Don’t get your panties in a twist when someone points out the blatantly obvious, what isn’t going to help anyone is acting dumb as if you didn’t even realise that the other character existed. Own up to the errors of your ways and right the wrong, because otherwise, that makes you look like a bumbling, nervous 13 year old that just wants to be something that they didn’t work hard to be. Playing them off as comfort characters also doesn’t change anything, and doesn’t make it fine. Don’t be a scab, learn to design your own characters in your own style. Thank you.
