It is really interesting that you use the headline of the German yellow press newspaper "Bild" in your artwork. If you really read that paper I am truly dissappointed because I expected you would read something that would suit your needs as a "political junkie" more.
No, Joseph Ratzinger was forced into the "Hitlerjugend" and he had to take part in the "Volkssturm" in which every young man from 16 to 66 years of age had to fill up the huge personnel gaps that emerged in the Wehrmacht in the later years of war.
Thus I believe that he is not necessarily an evil man.

PS: I would like to know where you actually heard of his opinions that you were talking of in your latest reply?

His encyclica about Love, his speech in Germany (which was, whether he actually excused himself or not, an attack on the muslim religion.), his interview in FOCUS. He's an old catholic supremacist roughneck whose intentions are the reconstruction of the catholic church as it was in former days. Strong, Big, and Ubiquitous.

For all who do not yet understand: I don't care if he was AAA assistant in the Wehrmacht or a high ranking SS officer or a navy cook - his intentions that are as clear as a diamond categorize him equal with all the other actual and wanna-be totalitarian leaders. Of course: for the simple-minded, it is easier to hate a crazed hatemonger like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Kim Yung Il, rather than a masked Inquisitor like the beloved Joseph Ratzinger or the Woman (praise or die) Angela Merkel.

I disagree with your opinion about the pope but I am not going to force you to change it. I actually don't care for the pope that much but the picture implicated the statement "Everybody who dealt with former Nazi-Germany is a murderer/fascist/nazi...". I know several people who helped defending Berlin in the second world war and most of them do/did the same jobs like everyone else does and they did no harm to anybody!
I misunderstood but I do understand you now. Yet the picture's message would have been clearer, if it were not send through the flat symbolism of Swastikas.
Anyway, it's Christmas holidays now and I need to wrap some packages now...
I wish you Froehliche Weihnachten

Assuming the link from nazi germany artillery helper to the actual pope, you're right. This picture was never meant to be criticism based on arguments, but links the Catholic Pope with totalitarian ideology via rude and never gentle imagery. It may even be considered an insult. "Art" (better: playing with Photoshop) mostly isn't about systematic reasoning, but more about emotions. When I hear speeches of Josef Ratzinger, or see media showing the cult around the pope as person, certain images come to my mind that strongly remind me of the era of national socialism. My weird mind is wired like that.
Merry Christmas too, Froehliche Weihnachten!

Interesting. You really think, he is a bad man?
That's disgusting.
