The cold rain dripped onto every cat's pelts from the sky-high oaks as Crowpaw silently followed his mentor and denmate, Adderpaw on a hunting patrol. It wasn't exactly the best day out for prey, but he guessed that the prey back at camp would get soggy anyways so anything he could get his paws on now would help. He reluctantly glared over at Adderpaw, who seemed to have caught a whiff of some sort of prey. If he was right, Crowpaw could catch it before he did, and maybe he could finally impress his mentor with something he did. Though unlikely, he did decide to give it a shot and snuck up beside adderpaw, smelling the prey as well.

Adderpaw winced as a few raindrops hit his muzzle,
rain wasn't exactly his ideal type of weather. It always made the days
feel slower, which really unmotivated him. However he was thankful to
be invited on a hunting patrol, as he assumed it would make his day a little
less boring. He was even more interested to know Crowpaw would be joining
him, he had always been curious of the tom. When the group headed out, Adderpaw
was lucky enough to catch the scent of prey, a mouse, he presumed. Keeping all
of his senses focused on finding this mouse, he carefully followed the trail, not noticing
Crowpaw following him as well.

The lanky black tabby tom stealthily kept a pace behind him, then realized something. if Adderpaw catches me going after the same prey, he may think of me badly and like a jerk.. He took a few seconds before deciding to race around adderpaw silently, still having a faint smell of the prey because the rain scattered the sent of it. Thank Oma for his black pelt because this mouse, it was under a large leaf in the middle of a clearing of trees. Crowpaw could see Adderpaw through the brush on the other side, but had he not had such a dark pelt he probably would have been spotted by now. He lowered his skinny, undernourished body to the ground and wiggled his hindquarters ready for the pounce.
3... 2... 1..
and he leaped, straight for the mouse

Adderpaw felt the scent of the mouse become more prominent
as he neared it, he silently cursed under his breath for this rain, which
made it difficult to steadily stalk this mouse, considering the rain made
the grass slippery. He faintly heard a rustle behind him for a moment,
he quickly looked behind him, but nothing was there. He decided to shrug it off,
thinking it was the rain or a breeze, and continued to track the mouse. His eyes
gleamed when he spotted it taking cover underneath a leaf. He readied to pounce,
getting a better foothold by digging his claws into the grass, before he sprang
into the air. He only had a moment to comprehend that Crowpaw had jumped at
the same time as him, and they collided in the air, scaring the mouse off.

they crashed to the ground, Crowpaw hitting his head on Adderpaw's. "FOXDUNG!!" He yowled, watching the small creature dart away into the underbrush. "Look at what you did!! I was gonna catch that, and now we caught nothing!!" he snarled, claws unleashing in frustration. "Great Oma, other apprentices can be so annoying most of the time. None of them know how to respect others" he meowed, holding his head high in hostility

Adderpaw yelped and toppled over onto the
drenched grass, muttering something under his breath before rising
to his paws again. He simply stared at Crowpaw with an unreadable expression,
blinking innocently as he yelled at him. Adderpaw shook his head and gave Crowpaw
a sweet grin, "Silly Crowpaw, I don't know if you saw, but I was the one tracking that
mouse in the first place!" He laughed. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you
were intentionally tracking the same prey as me, tsk tsk, how shameful." He teased in
a condescending tone.

"Oh shut up, I could say the same about you mousebrain. Besides, at least I could have actually shared that mouse with someone. I have friends. You on the other paw.. Poor, poor Adderpaw. Too arrogant and rude to get anyone to like him. He couldn't share a mouse with a soul because every cat hate him, honestly, the only mate you'll ever have would probably be a badger. At least they're as snappy and rude as you are." he mocked at a fast pace, repetitively circling Adderpaw as he did so in frustration.
"Look, i'm not looking to get into a fight, so just back off from my rightful prey next time and i'll back off from you."

Adderpaw blankly stared off into the distance as
Crowpaw circled around him, his expression had rapidly faded into
something more solemn and dark. He slowly turned towards Crowpaw and
locked gazes with him, but the atmosphere coming off of him suggested something
more malicious was going on in his mind. "You're one to talk, Crowpaw." He replied,
"Every cat in Leafclan knows you snap at everyone, are you just insulting me to
make you feel better about yourself?" He questioned in a playful voice. "Besides,
what makes you think I even want a mate?" He said, but this time his tone was
back to his usual child-like one.

"Of course i'm one to talk !! Isn't that how you get people to listen??" he snapped. "I don't snap by the way, I'm simply an honest cat and I tell others what i'm thinking, even if it isn't the nicest. This clan needs to shape up, and I'm gonna help with that." Crowpaw replied proudly, lifting his long, skinny tail into the air. "You only wish you could have as much good reputation and strength as i do" he mocked, stopping in his muddy tracks.

Adderpaw rolled his eyes a little and shrugged, "Yeah, but what
if others don't wanna hear your voice?" He asked, a smug expression across his face.
He stood up and glared at Crowpaw, "I'd say this clan is doing fine, if you ask me." He purred,
"And speak for yourself, you literally just snapped at me, talking about how you don't
snap at people." He chuckled a bit, "And.. why should I care what others think of me?" He prodded,
Adderpaw did care about how others viewed him to some extent, but this feeling was only with
cats he cared about, on that note, Crowpaw was... kind of a cat he cared about, but he viewed him more
as a rival than a friend.

"Doesn't matter, if they don't wanna hear my voice that's too bad for them!!" he blunted. "You should care because if cats actually like being around you, you get friends, and they can really help you out when you need them." Crowpaw shrugged.
"Though you wouldn't know that much about friends would you."
