That sword is some sort of gunblade, probably a energy -based rifle. Similar tool can be seen on my "Shadowdancer" pic.
Looks like it's a favored toy of warriors from Draconian special forces.

So it's a energy rifle. Should develop a "personal shiled" againt's energy bolts as fast as possible. Now all we need is to get one of those and perform test on it. And also try the EMC brust on it.
