Description A concept of a webcomic I’m working on. Human versions of the Sears Tower (on the left) and 311 South Wacker Drive (on the right) a nice duo. No references for their poses/bodies, I made them up.

Check out my Instagram art account @PirateWitchLapi for a more visual design process and the references I did use for this art piece.

-Design Process-
For Sears Tower.
Immediately I saw the head (the 2 tubes at the top), the strong shoulders (the 3 tubes sticking out) and the defined hips (where all 7-9 tubes bundle at the lower half of the tower). At first, it was gonna be an Englishman named Will (shortened from Willis Tower). But we don’t call it Willis Tower, its original name is prettier and I want Sears to be American, so, as a nod to the current English owners of the Tower today, I made her a goth (goth movement started in the UK during the 70s, fashion in the 80s). Further amplified by the building’s all black color, the time it was built (1974) and antennas installed (1982). She's also a bit of a hippie, which works since they became prominent in the late 60s and early 70s meanwhile the building was being planned and constructed. Her antennas get cut off at the top. They would go a little higher and her platform boots are supposed to be higher too but I didn’t have enough room for either. The bands (the 4 darker dividers of the building) are incorporated into her clothes as black lace bands that are distributed as evenly as possible mimicking the building’s. She stands at 8’10” or 269 cm, adjusted based on the tower’s 442ish meters or 1,451 ft at roof height.

For 311 South Wacker Drive.
311 South Wacker has a crown at the top. I saw this as a flat top hairstyle for him. It fits since the hairstyle was popular during the 90s, when the building was built in 1990. But the crown is incorporated as hair and his topmost hair shines just like the real life one does. I’m still considering whether I should keep the hair design or just give him a crown straight up. The buildings sides that wrap around the main center tower except the front made me see them as his jacket over his shoulders. The US doesn't have kings so instead of a royal cloak I opted for a leather jacket for him. Under his jacket is a sweater with a pattern that matches the building's design of the window placements of the center going from  horizontal, then vertical, horizontal, and vertical again. He stands at 5’11” or 180 cm, adjusted by the tower’s 250ish meters or 961ish ft.
