After seeing my Bim and Lisa (www.deviantart.com/lariel-isti… ) art Bim's new owner asked for making two more portraits of her dog. This is the first of them. In a few months these portraits will be shippedto Germany

May I ask, what kind of paper do you use for your watercolors?
I've tried more than a dozen kinds of paper lately and I'm now absolutely sure that the kind of paper used affects not only the all in all quality of the result picture, but the style of the future picture too. Some papers are absolutely unsuitable if you want to get a loose and free watercolor paintings, and some don't give the possibility to get clear and precise realistic works.

I now have this paper 2 weeks its hot pressed and I’m very happy with it.

Oh, I like Arches very much, for now it's the top one paper I use!
But I never tried blocks, usually I buy sheets and then cut them into parts.
It takes a lot of water before it could give beautiful color gradients but it's convenient to paint on as it dries slowly and doesn't need much water addition after soaked correctly.

I had lots of problem with brown ond orange colors till I found the correct paints to mix it (not using brown and orange paints).

Watercolor can suck, but you can have so much fun with it in the end; it is also very therapeutic.

I think this dog is rather photogenic
He looks good on photos and pictures while in real life he looks like just the simple mutt you don't pay attention to.

The scan doesn't get the light shades of gray on the muzzle and head, it looks better in reality!
