I made this for the "Make One, Share One" competition. For the contest, I ordered a 10 x 15 matte print of this painting. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, which you can see here:

I was thinking about Myst, which I often do, and I was thinking of some of the many reasons I love Myst.

One of the reasons I love Myst is because of focus on 'learning,' on being curious and finding out things. I read the Book of Atrus when I was in 7th grade, it was the first time I really found a positive role model for a scientist. Atrus and Anna both try tobe mindful of the world around them, try to understand things through observation and experimentation. That's science. I wanted to be like them.

Anyway, so when I was in college studying biology, I often thought of Atrus working at his desk like this. And I think of Anna's words:

"There is never an end to learning, Atrus. There are more things in this universe, yes, and more universes, than we could ever hope to know."
