Thanks for the watch. No scattering, but yes the is a subsurface volume. Renders faster and for a stylized render no need for that extra bit of realism that scattering provides.

I use Octane Render and a materials transmission and scattering are separate nodes. So I don't actually enable anything in the scatter area. But I do set the material to allow light to transmit through. And I sometimes exaggerate it a ton so they don't look real, more like a doll so to stay away from the uncanny valley.

The first version's expression looks like disgust, but this version's expression looks enticing, like she's saying "How's the view down there?"
