Already had this finished before the trailer came out. Last week once I heard that a new trailer was going to drop I had to capitalize.
But yeah, looks like a fun movie! I don't have much interest in animated kids films anymore but this is the only one I'd really care to see. Although I gotta admit, the light fury does look a bit predictable and something straight out of this website, but hey I'm sure they'll make it work! New villain too it seems, though whatever happened to the dude from the last movie? Maybe they're just not showing him in the trailer...

After you made that first Toothless drawing, this one was bound to come. One of the most adorable dragons in existence! He looks really cute in this one. (But still, what is that face on his tail.)
And I share your view - I don't really care about "animated kid films" (and seen barely any), but HTTYD movies are the only ones I care about and love, mainly because of how much I love dragons. And I'm actually rather fine with a Light Fury - I've never been a part of fandoms solely because of how weird things can get when people start making too many OCs, but I'm alright with a Light Fury (after all, Toothless needs at least one other dragon of his kind) and I'm very excited to see what they do with her. One thing I find really hard to picture is Toothless flying with the new dragon, because he needs someone to control his tail fin all the time.
The only thing I really fear (and I'm kinda sure about it) is that the dragons would leave the Vikings, putting an end to this movie series (honestly, I've never felt such sorrow because of a simple thought in a long time).
Oh, and the bad dude form the last movie? I've read that he's coming back, but I suppose that he won't be as formidable as the new one.

Not gonna lie, I think that first Toothless drawing I did is really awful... This one however I'm much happier with! I'm not really apart of any fandoms either, I just swore I saw quite a few white Toothless recolor drawings before then on my time spent browsing here. Also I'd say the derguns leaving could make for a good, emotional ending. We shall see!

Same here, I could have sworn I've seen a few white Toothless-like drawings over here, way before the first poster got revealed. I was wondering whether I've missed something, some earlier reveal, but not as far as my knowledge goes. And though I feel I can control my emotions very well, an ending where the dragons leave would probably break me for a few days.
I was wondering, which drawing program do you use? I think I've seen you once mention Gimp (dunno where, it's just there in my memory), how do you manage all the shading and lighting in your other pictures?
And if I could have a suggestion, you like to draw mechs and dragons, don't you? I wonder what would a mech-Toothless look like?

Yeah, I use GIMP. For lighting and shading I just use them on separate layers. I have layers for: Base colors, shading (which I set on a multiply layer), reflective/bounce lighting, surface shines, and finally a lighting layer (which I set on overlay, then "alpha to selection" the shading layer and delete the selection of the lighting layer so the light and shadow don't overlap.)
As for a robo-Toothless, I was thinking about that but I wasn't really all too enamored by the idea... I already have my own OCs to fulfill my robo-dragon drawing needs.
