Description
My half Japanese (Vampire: The Requiem) Ventrue, Nicholas Akashi. I won't get into his backstory or our campaign too much here, but suffice to say he is an extremely prideful and arrogant man (as a result of a rather privileged upbringing and his intelligence) and when his Ordo Dracul coterie encountered a pack of werewolves in the wolves' own territory, he didn't quite treat it with the right...deference...Yeah, he spent the entire encounter on the ground with a werewolf on his back. I'm quite surprised there was no frenzy roll for this one.

Again, good job with the shading and lighting perspective. I also like the shading on the wolf's fur and the texture. It was done quite well.
If I had to critique something, it would probably be the right arm not corresponding to the shadows on that side. A small thing though.

Nice. But the first thing I thought when I saw it was zoophilia XD Anyway. The light is confusingly inconsistent. Where's the light source? The hands also look a bit funky. I suggest making yourself a reference by looking at your own hands. The mud (?) looks weird, too. I also suggest finding references for mud. You can make the hair more detailed, too.

*falls over laughing*
So nice of the wolf to catch his glasses before they fell in the mud- which is a nice touch to that scene, by the way. Poor Nicholas and his pride⦠no wonder he's glaring at us all.

Nice drawing, but the man's shoulder (his right) is too tall and not far back enough. His legs are also a bit off, but this is a tricky angle to work with. The wolf is nicely done, but his right leg needs to be over more or his shoulder up more because otherwise A) it would be on the dude and B) it would be a shorter leg. Hehe.. that may have sounded confusing... but yes. It also just has a sloppily groomed feel... unfinished, almost.

You're totally right about the shoulder, that's something else I was having trouble with. As for the wolf's leg, are you saying that it gives the impression that it's on the guy's back? Or would its shoulder also need to be raised to give that impression, because that's what I was going for.

zylair In reply to lastshadow [2007-07-21 01:59:07 +0000 UTC]
That is what I meant... so either raise the shoulder a tad more or move the leg over about 50 pixels. XD

I really like the painting. The man's face and the wolf are just great. You couldn't capture the sense of emotion any better then that. I like how its mostly black and white with some color that really brings out the depth and quality of the image on this. I would say just get rid of the graident because the blue doesn't fit and makes the painting look odd.
The puddles on the floor are also a great touch, and the detail on it look wonderful.
