Description
Hey everyone,As you might have seen I recently released a web comic featuring our very best heroine Kim Possible.
For most panels in the comic I needed a background and what's best than the actual artwork of the show.
Unfortunately any example of this that I found were very low resolution and once magnified It was a pixelated nightmare.
So I upscaled some backgrounds to be more crisp and usable in my work.

I have some HD episodes of the show and I play them usingΒ VLC media player. I can pic which screen shot I want and it will save a copy as a PNG file. Easier to work with. It's how I made almost all of background shot I have.

I looked around some more and I also found a way to *cough* "acquire" a 1080p version of the show. Though instead of VLC , I think I'm going to use Davinci Resolve (a pretty good free video editing software) to get the frames I want. There's also the solution with extracting frames using ffmpeg command line utility but I find it just too much a hassle for this.

Usually I made my own but the best screen caps on the net I've found are here.Β Β www.kpfanworld.com/Caps

Oh! Thanks for telling me about that website. Just today I was trying to find the best source for stuff like this, though looking through the screen caps on that website, they still suffer from artifacting and noise. Be it from the way they captured the screen or the original media is like that. And with show as old as this I'm not even surprised.
The way I do the upscaling and denoising is withΒ waifu2x.udp.jp/Β . It's AI, machine learning mumbo jumbo. If you have a powerful enough computer I recommend getting the desktop version of this. You have to play around with the settings a bit based on each image source and how bad quality it is, but overall it does a good job.
