Charaster? Character? I'm not sure what you want the critique for. I think your prices are pretty fair considering the quality of work. I even wonder if you're perhaps undercharging but you probably work quicker than me so maybe it works out all right. Is that what you needed?

Yeah, I totally get it. This is not a hobby for you. It's your career. You've gotta eat! Lol. But seriously, these are worth it! What you consider sketches, I consider full blown drawings. I got here from looking at your sketchbook sketches, and they were really good. Man, you are like the master of digital coloring. It's soooo good!

No problem, I'm just going to have to save up. And find a job welp! I know one of my favorite artists that I've seen at conventions for the last few years, I still haven't bought a commission from them (even though I want to) because the one I want would end up around $400.
I've seen a lot of people offer cheaper commissions but overall I see that it ends up hurting other artists who do want to get paid for their efforts and time they put in their art. And then people expect everyone else to price their commissions for their work for cheaper too. Especially when I see people trying to do full page comics for less than a dollar, I'm all ????
I have bought commissions from other people who offer for less but I always try to give them extra because they priced WAY to cheap at times. Like someone I commissioned recently only wanted 3.50 but I gave them a 20 instead.
lol when I open commissions, I would probably have cheaper prices as well (whoops!). I'm still figuring things out so it won't be for a while!

No offense to you RandomVanGlobii, but a artist can charge whatever there work they think is worth. The time x labor x details x size can make any piece of work pricey.
"Quality vs Quantity"
Sure you can buy a Ford, Chevy, Dodge... you get the standard car with standard price.
You go after Lamborghini, Ferrari, Lotus you get custom craftsmanship and the price tag.
It's simple in art really, you want more than standard art; you pay for it especially if it's a custom piece and not a standard set the artist sells all the time.

Nieris is a professional, you can't compare hobbyists on dA to professionals who work in the industry and are used to according salaries. honestly I still find her prices on the cheaper side for what she delivers, I'm not nearly as skilled and got more money for some crappy sketches I did for an ad agency as a freelancer once and according to acquaintances in the industry I was still underpayed
if you find illustrators who work for less it's because they work for less than minimum vage, which is shitty especially because art is a luxury
