Usually "drawing a portrait" means also the sketching stage, so this is more of a "how to color a portrait". e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> But let's get back to the topic.
First thing I want to mention is... your additional notes & sketches in between the tutorial frames. I feel like they need their personal space (especially those colors that lay under the text).
Next, the positioning. The right side of the picture looks heavy and pressing to the left (and her whole body looks like leaning, I guess that wasn't intended?). If not to change background: make three imaginary vertical lines that cut the piece in equal parts, it would be better to place her head at the right line.
The anatomy is fine (thought her left eye isn't at the right place e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>).
What is best about the tutorial - is how detailed and clear it is! To my mind, this is obligatory to be understandable.
Also, the tutorial page looks messy and the mixture of typed and written text looks like it is still a rough copy of it.
(also, I can help u with english e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>)
Good luck!

That is an interesting tutorial. I love to use neutral grey backgrounds. All the pictures in my creatures folder is like that. I see that I am not alone. White is the most traditional color. Unfortunately it makes highlights look terrible. Highlights stand out better against darker backgrounds. Grey makes a wonderful background, because it seems to recede. So highlights, shadows and saturated colors really stand out from it. I see that you used a brown background. You were able to make that work for you. That is good. Whatever floats your boat.

Thank you for posting this. I've really been struggling figuring out how to use layers and coloring with digital art. I normally stick with black ink drawings, but I'm trying to learn some different techniques. I really appreciate it. Great work!

In the 6 pictures where you describe the hair the pictures seem to be stretched compared to the rest ó_ò
Other than that a very helpful tutorial
