I was going for the idea the the viewer of the drawing and Princess Quelenna have slipped away from the royal ball to enjoy each other's company in her room, where she invites the viewer to sit next to her on the bed and enjoy each other's company. I wanted to capture a feeling of private intimacy (and perhaps a sense of romantic tension) between the princess and the viewer

of course i chose violets for her flower pot bc it's the sapphic flower UuU (yes i know the drawing is of the wrong kind of violet but i think it's still valid)
