Carl Jung says that mandalas are a universal way of communicating the world of our unconscious mind to the world of waking consciousness. They are found in every religion and tradition in the world. This particular mandala was influenced by recent explorations into my dreams, mayan heritage, world view and mythology, and the idea of cyclical, nonlinear time, including the cycles of planting, incubation, growth, and harvest. These themes also apply to the cycles of creativity, where an idea has to sort of "cook" for a while before it is ready for its final form in the world, or the idea of an entire tree contained in a single seed.
