    Carmen was born early on January 1st of 1996, as fireworks went off outside, Carmen broke out of her egg in the bathroom of her parents' house.
   Carmen is half Danian, a species which lays eggs, and so her 'Father' was extremely happy that his and his wife's child had come safely into the world. Both of Carmen's parents weren't sure what to expect from their half alien child, and her mother Caroline, was very worried that Carmen would stay looking like an Alien, as that would make it quite hard to show off their child to anyone outside their family.
   Which would make it impossible to hire baby sitters or even take her outside their property.

   Luckily, just a few hours later while Caroline was cooing over her baby, Carmen looked at her and began changing skin colour, eye colours, the whole meat and potatoes. It scared Caroline for a good second until she remembered her husband could do the same, it was still worrisome that Carmen might change back if she was ever in a kindergarten or the like.
    And so Carmen's life began, hatching in a bathroom.

    For a long time, Carmen lived without much worry in her life, it seemed like she stayed in her human form permanently, and as neither Jonathan nor Caroline knew anything about half human half danian babies, they didn't have much knowledge to draw from.
    As Carmen grew older, it became apparent that she could in fact change forms, human and Danian, but something inside her had made her stay in human form. However, that knowledge made Caroline worried, Jonathan had enough sense to stay in human form while in public, even at home for most of the time, however Carmen was too young to understand what might happen.
    But still, Caroline began telling Carmen that if she let anyone see her alien form, Carmen would get taken away along with her dad, and she would never see her mother again, and people would be very mean to her.
    Without meaning to, that lead to Caroline planting seeds of paranioa in Carmen that would lead her to shut herself off from most people she knew, just to make sure they never found out she wan't fully human.
   When Carmen was 4, she got a new little sister, and for a while she was neglected which hurt her, however Jonathan sat her down and explained that the baby needed attention, it couldn't do anything by itself and Carmen was able to see that was true, and just began helping her mother whenever she could.
   The family lived in Gotham, up until Carmen was 8 and was caught up in a kidnapping. She doesn't remember exactly what happened, but she was taken away and kept locked up a few hours, scared and crying in a guarded room, until she was ”rescued” by Catwoman.
   In reality, Catwoman was there to get the ”loot” Carmen's kidnappers had, which was her. But upon seeing the ”loot” was a child, decided to take her to somewhere safe, and then lure Batman there to get her home.
   Carmen had been taken by some henchmen, who's boss wanted Caroline to build a weapon or Carmen would get hurt, Batman had been out looking for her when he saw Catwoman, who lured him away and straight to Carmen.
   This experience lead Carmen to realize that not all ”villains” where evil, and she began idolizing Catwoman to a certain extent, and Catwoman was also her first crush, although she was too young to really understand it, she just thought Catwoman was really pretty.
    After this, Caroline and Jonathan decided Gotham was too dangerous to live in, something they had thought for a while never did anything about as nothing had ever happened to them, except that ones time Carmen had climbed onto a telephone pole and gotten electrocuted. However it was more on the fault of their daughter than anything in the City.
But unknown to them, Carmen had gained electric powers from that, powers she began experimenting with in secret, another thing to hide about herself and never show anyone, or she would be taken away from her family.

    So they moved to Star City and Caroline began working for Star Labs.

    However, Star City was very boring compared to Gotham, as there was a lot less rogues running around and a lot less crime.
    This, paired with Carmen being curious about her alien form, lead to her sometimes running around on rooftops in her alien form, feeling a certain form of freedom doing this.

    But boredom got to her and so when she was 10, she got the bright idea to steal a painting from a museum. She wasn't sure what brought this idea about, but a part of it was definitely showing off that she was smart enough to do it, and sure enough.
    She was smart enough to do it without getting caught. However, as soon as she realized what she'd done, she became regretful and hid the painting away, leaving a little note behind with a message on where it was.
   And as time passed by, she did it again, and again, and again. It was thrilling and engaging, having to figure out security systems and later she even began leaving riddles instead of straight up telling them where she'd hid the painting. It kept her entertained, and she even met Batman again once, when she went out while her parents were visiting friends in Gotham.
    To protect her identity, she began making her own tech to hide her voice, goggles with various setting to help her see in the dark and other things.
And the last touch, was a mask with cat like ears on top, a callback to Catwoman.

    Come 2010, Carmen has a small reputation as a harmless crook who just toys with the police, leaving calling cards with riddles on them, sometimes even pointing out security flaws in places she robbed.

Carmen is a generally caring woman, but often has trouble expressing that care.
She's very confident and tends not to care about what others think of her, at least when it comes to her appearance.
However, she's also very distrustful of people and has a hard time opening up, due to her being raised to believe that if anyone ever found out she was half alien, she would be thrown into a lab and studied.
