Haha, I know- DA is a strange and dynamic place and not all of it is wonderful, but there's some gems to be found on here. Glad you like this piece! It's one of my personal favorites.

You were one of the first artist artists I saw that I was Impressed with! A lot of things have happened to me since then, I hosted an art show with the Great Steven Johnson Leyba in Minneapolis!

This is marvelous! I can't get over the precision you have in your designs--in graphite! The rabbit painting is a nice touch, too.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful commentary! I appreciate it.
Glad you like the rabbit! Here's a little i wrote about it's meaning: "the rabbit is an emblematic self portrait/signature as K'uy or T'u'ul: the Mayan's divine rabbit. In the Mixe–Zoque language the word k'oy means to engrave or mark, and koy translates as "to paint". I feel the similarities in the words may not be coincidental, as the rabbit is often depicted as a scribe and creator of the codex. The rabbit is sitting in a stylized Mayan moon throne, and has the glyph "white World Bridger" in it's ear. White World Bridger is a fourth of both Frida and I's Mayan astrology. The rabbit is painting the lines of the leaf in front of it, and has created the entire drawing as a record of it's perspective."

Very nice. Is the monkey Diego? and LOL the Maya rabbit scribe at the bottom right. Too many nice touches to mention.

Haha! No, the monkey isn't Diego.... it's the monkey from the nazca lines in Peru. I put it in because of Frida's love for monkeys, and because it fit in with the South American theme. I didn't portray Diego in this piece because I personally think he was kind of a big jerk to Frida. Glad you like this piece!

Well, thankfully it's graphite and not lead. By now I've learned to take a lot of preservational precautions to preserve a piece. I shield the graphite from my hand with a piece of paper and use workable fixative as I go along.
