Ok so like, I've spent 3 days on this tennis pic of Goten (constantly changing my mind as to what I wanted him to do), and to tell the truth, I just can't see myself shading this without being pressured. I CAN see myself trying to figure out how to make a custom brush tool and doing a fence background, but I really have no idea where to start with that, and I don't have time to start teaching myself new photoshop tricks... so unless I get 10+ of you guys requesting that I finish this tennis piece, I'll just keep it how it is.~RobRoyBlaze has been requesting that I do another comparison piece. I haven't done one in over 9 months, and I usually only compare my Trunks frontal views.... so this time I did something sneaky-sneaky and compared my GT Gotens (for once!). So ya, this is dedicated to you, Bobby!
And if you guys REALLY want me to finish this tennis piece, tell me. Otherwise, I have lots of other incomplete pieces I can potentially work on.
EDIT: And oh yeah, if any of you, like technorama, really find his body hot and/or would like to see how I draw bodies under the clothes (I almost always draw/sketch naked bodies before putting clothes on them), his delicious upper axis can be found here: [link] <3

Oh wow! that's a hot pic! And it's really interesting to see how your style has developed (although I sitll like the blue biro girl from waaaaaaaaaaaay back). I also didn't know you drew bodies under all the clothes - no wonder your so good at drawing poses with all that practice!! I suck at anatomy - maybe I need to take some realism classes too!

oh, by the way, for a quick crit., on his left arm, that line heading down his forearm should be pointing the other way downward (pointing toward his thumb instead). Here's a quick ref: [link] (sorry for the bad scan near the top, but you get the idea XD)

mmm I guess for that line, I was trying to indicate the tendon that goes to the index finger. I would have had one going to the middle finger too, but it would have looked a little strange in anime style to do thsoe lines/tendons without shading... as if I messed up or something.

I draw the nekkidness before clothes, too. It just makes this easier, like how to tell where the wrinkles in the clothes go and where the hems should fall. You do the stick figure skeleton too, right?

Yay! No eye-sore japanese shorts! You should post the Prince Eric hair Goten that I made lol. LOVE his shoes. Bonus points. No girly hips! The only advice to give here is try to work on putting more wrinkles in shirts.

Yeah, I purposely tried to draw him in my own way. I can easily revert back to my toriyama-themed way, but I feel like I can't progress if I linger in one stage too long. I want to try to expand him even more and develop a style even more of my own. I think Toriyama's influence will forever play a role in the foundations of my drawings, but I'd like to at least reach a stage where people look at my artwork and don't think, "oh she's just copying toriyama."

I always draw my figures naked before putting clothes on them. It's a rule that pretty much applies to 90% of my pieces, so if you ever think someone's hot, I most likely have him in the playgirl version too ; )
